Review Summary

Saray Restaurant is widely celebrated as a standout destination in Montreal for authentic Turkish cuisine, consistently praised for its flavorful, high-quality grilled meats, fresh bread, and generous, well-presented portions. The atmosphere is frequently described as elegant, warm, and transportive, making it an excellent venue for family gatherings, celebrations, and groups. While the dining experience is generally exceptional, many patrons highlight the professional, friendly, and attentive service provided by the staff, who often go out of their way to ensure a memorable visit. Although some guests mention that the restaurant can become quite busy and noisy, and a few have noted occasional inconsistencies in service speed or portion size, the overwhelming consensus remains highly positive, with many diners planning return visits to enjoy the welcoming environment and delicious, reliable menu.

« Nous étions trois personnes & nous voulions commander deux menus (SERPMEKAHVALTI) pour goûter. On nous a toutefois imposé de prendre un troisième menu obligatoirement. Ils nous ont alors servi un plateau pour trois personnes, mais rien ne permettait de vérifier que la quantité était réellement adaptée à trois plutôt qu'à deux. Payer 109 $ pour des olives, du pain, quelques morceaux de salami & des oeufs, ce n'est vraiment pas drôle. »« There were three of us & we wanted to order two'Serpme Kahvalti' menus to try them out. However, they forced us to order a third one, claiming it was mandatory. They then brought out a single platter for three people, but there was no way to tell if it was actually a portion for three or just for two. It's honestly not right to pay $109 for olives, bread, a few slices of salami, & eggs. »

I've been to Saray Restaurant twice now… once for dinner & once for brunch… & both times felt like stepping into a slower, more intentional way of eating.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is very calm… soft Turkish music playing in the background, a spacious room, & these beautiful, intricate details everywhere. Even the plateware & tea sets caught my attention. I'm not even kidding… it made me want to buy all my homeware in Turkey.

It also feels like a close-knit place. The employees move like a family… comfortable, warm, & genuinely welcoming.

Both times I went with my friend Farzy, who invited me to help her film some content. I'm a hand model & a huge foodie, so we always end up mixing a little work & a lot of eating.

The first time, we ordered the Sultan dinner to share… & it's a full table experience. Adana, chicken wings, beef cubes, chicken skewers… served with rice, bulgur, golden potatoes, salad, & their house sauce.

The potato wedges were perfectly cooked & seasoned… crispy on the outside, soft inside. The side salads were fresh & flavorful, which balanced everything really well. & honestly… I couldn't even pick a favorite meat. I loved them all.

It's the kind of meal where you slowly realize you're full… & yet you're still reaching for another bite because it's just that good 😭 I might have had to unbutton my pants at the table… don't judge.

What stood out to me most though was the feeling of the evening. Turkish tea on the table, warm food, & no pressure to rush. Tina, our waitress, was so kind & attentive… it made everything feel easy & taken care of.

We ended with homemade künefe… warm, sweet, slightly indulgent, & the perfect way to close the night.

The second time we went back for brunch… & that's when I really started noticing the intention behind everything.

We had the Turkish breakfast, which comes as a full spread meant to share. Eggs, cheeses, sausages, breads, spreads… but what made it special were the small details.

The olives are imported from Turkey, & they even grill the green ones… which I didn't expect but loved so much I finished them all & didn't leave any for Farzy… oops 😅 . The butter is made fresh, the bread is baked fresh, & the jams are homemade… we had two & both were so good. The fresh squeezed orange juice was also a highlight because who doesn't love fresh juice.

Even the honey is locally sourced from Quebec… they drive hours to pick it up.

You can really taste the care in everything. Nothing feels rushed or generic… it feels thoughtful.

If I had to describe Saray, I'd say it's not trying to be trendy… it's rooted in culture, in food, & in slowing down.

It honestly made me even more excited to visit Turkey one day… but for now, this felt like a really comforting introduction.

I'm just a foodie who loves trying new spots & sharing my experiences. If you enjoy discovering places like this, come hang out with me on TikTok @foxy.appetite & IG @foxyappetite 🫶
