Overall, VIP is celebrated for delicious, authentic Chinese dishes that cover a wide range of flavors from Cantonese staples to spicy and sweet profiles, with generous portions at reasonable prices. The kitchen is described as consistently high quality with careful preparation and a touch of nostalgia, making it a long-time favorite for locals and visitors. Service is generally friendly and efficient even when the restaurant is busy, though the atmosphere can be lively and some wait times may occur. Some reviews note occasional misses such as missing sauces or rice with certain orders, and a few mention cramped space or simple decor, but these do not overshadow the overall flavor, variety, and value. Overall, VIP is seen as one of the best Chinese dining options in Montreal, esteemed for its consistency, ample portions, and classic comfort dishes.
Located in the heart of downtown, Maison VIP stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, offering an unparalleled dining experience in the realm of Chinese cuisine. As a connoisseur of fine dining, I've traversed many establishments in search of the perfect balance of flavour, authenticity, & ambiance. Maison VIP surpasses all expectations, setting a new standard for Chinese gastronomy in the bustling downtown scene.

January, 2024: Restaurant VIP is a good & decent Restaurant. I love the food that I ate there we were three guys & we came here on a Sunday Pros: 1) Washroom is pretty clean. 2) The food is good i ordered Steamed Rice & Like a fried chicken thing but it was good. My friends ordered Pineapple chicken & General Tao. 3) The waiters were good & working hard. 4) Many of the customers there knew each other. 5) Right by Chinatown & not a far walk from the Metro. Cons: 1) There was no Water when were served. Just the Hot tea. 2) The waiter was okay some were nice & others were not. 3) Parking maybe a challenge. 4) The Restaurant looked small when it's full & a bit rundowned but still nice vibe. 5) The food was a little bit salty but I think they should be more upfront about how to pay & what to eat. Conclusion: It was a good restaurant & I hope to try other things in the future & try the sharing idea mentioned like 18.95 for one person or 25 for sharing etc.
We have eaten at VIP many times over the years. Overall, we have been pleased. We were a group of 7 last week; we ordered - & enjoyed- many dishes, mostly but not exclusively vegetarian. I love that VIP takes reservations. The food is prepared quickly, & the portions are generous. Our waiter put a candlle in a half orange for our friend who was celebrating a birthday, which was appreciated. I'm delighted that the take out containers are now recyclable. If management would find an alternative to the plastic tablecloths which are not recyclable, & which fill up the landfill, that would be more than FABULOUUS. & perhaps keep some cupcakes in the freezer for those who are celebrating birthdays? Thank-you, VIP.
This is an institution in Montreal's Chinatown. A must for local & tourist. Service is quick. Food is delicious. Classic that must ordered: Cantonese chow mein, salt & pepper squid or anything. You can reserve if you are a good group. The more you are, the more choices you have to share.
