Overall, VIP is celebrated for delicious, authentic Chinese dishes that cover a wide range of flavors from Cantonese staples to spicy and sweet profiles, with generous portions at reasonable prices. The kitchen is described as consistently high quality with careful preparation and a touch of nostalgia, making it a long-time favorite for locals and visitors. Service is generally friendly and efficient even when the restaurant is busy, though the atmosphere can be lively and some wait times may occur. Some reviews note occasional misses such as missing sauces or rice with certain orders, and a few mention cramped space or simple decor, but these do not overshadow the overall flavor, variety, and value. Overall, VIP is seen as one of the best Chinese dining options in Montreal, esteemed for its consistency, ample portions, and classic comfort dishes.
Best Chinese food restaurant in Montreal for Beef & Chinese broccoli; Cantonaise chow mein; Chicken fried rice; Sweet & sour pork; & Lemon chicken! Since coming from Vancouver I have been searching for a good, tasty restaurant & I'm so grateful I found this one. As soon as I walked in the door on New Years Eve at 7pm, I was warmly greeted. Without a reservation, I was still seated promptly & served water & tea instantly. The servers were kind, friendly, & super efficient. The food came out within a decent timeframe considering how busy it was. It was all truly delicious. We ate enough to be full at the dinner table & we both had enough to take-out for full meals later on. I also appreciated the freshly cut oranges at the end of meal. A sweet way to end a great time here.
Excellent place to eat Chinese food. The service was very fast & very nice always smiling. The food was really good. We ordered Beef Chop suey, General Tao Chicken, beef sizzling, beef chow mein & (1) big portion of steam rice that is enough for 6 or even 7 people. Prices are very good & portions are big. Totally recommended. Prices between $15 to $ 22 per dish.
Worth the visit ! Very good food ! Book in advance if you dont want to miss a chance to dine in as the place gets full very fast ! We tried KungPaochicken & Garlic Eggplant & vegetable fried rice. All 3 dishes were amazing
Amazing service, exceptional food quality, & generous portions! Conveniently located near the "Palais de Congrès," they also accept credit card payments. The meal ends with a thoughtful touch: fortune cookies & a slice of orange. An unexpectedly incredible experience!
Tiny portions on delivery & expensive ... General Tao does not include rice. Large wonton: 7 noodles ? ... Vegetables plate: barely 200 grams. There's better elsewhere ...
