Restaurant VIP in Montreal's Chinatown is described as a longtime favorite for generous portions and bold flavors, blending traditional Cantonese dishes with North American favorites and maintaining high consistency thanks to a steady chef and staff over the years. Reviews note a cozy, sometimes crowded dining room, friendly service, and strong value with large portions that make the meals feel well worth the price. The menu features many standouts such as Cantonese fried rice, spicy shrimp, lobster, barbeque duck, and chicken with vegetables, with beloved items like General Tao and chow mein, though some dishes such as chicken feet are no longer offered. Some comments mention slower pacing when the place is busy and a plain decor, but the overall tone is loyal and nostalgic, praising it as among the best Chinese restaurants in Montreal. Parking can be easy at times, and to-go orders are occasionally incomplete, but the kitchen's care and flavor keep patrons coming back.
I ordered general tsos chicken to go & they gave no white rice!? How does a $20 order not come with rice?? & it's all dark chicken meat. Sauce was good but not having any rice soured the meal. Very disappointed with the money spent here.

I have been coming to this place since 1992. Still one of the greatest chinese food restaurent in Montréal chinatown with same great dishes & services, & the original owner, This place makes me nostalgic.
Best Chinese food restaurant in Montreal for Beef & Chinese broccoli; Cantonaise chow mein; Chicken fried rice; Sweet & sour pork; & Lemon chicken! Since coming from Vancouver I have been searching for a good, tasty restaurant & I'm so grateful I found this one. As soon as I walked in the door on New Years Eve at 7pm, I was warmly greeted. Without a reservation, I was still seated promptly & served water & tea instantly. The servers were kind, friendly, & super efficient. The food came out within a decent timeframe considering how busy it was. It was all truly delicious. We ate enough to be full at the dinner table & we both had enough to take-out for full meals later on. I also appreciated the freshly cut oranges at the end of meal. A sweet way to end a great time here.
