About

Pho Nam Quan specializes in authentic Vietnamese cuisine anchored by traditional broth-based preparations. The menu centers on steaming bowls of phở, featuring aromatic stocks simmered with star anise, cinnamon, and ginger to achieve a balanced flavor profile. Thin rice noodles provide the foundation for various protein selections, including thinly sliced beef, savory brisket, and fresh herbs that add brightness to every bowl. Beyond soups, the establishment provides a variety of regional snacks and classic noodle dishes designed to showcase essential Vietnamese culinary techniques. Diners encounter a straightforward, functional space optimized for serving hot bowls quickly and efficiently. The kitchen prioritizes consistency and depth of flavor in its base ingredients, ensuring that each portion meets established standards of regional cooking. This destination serves as a primary hub for those seeking direct, unadorned Vietnamese noodle soup.

Review Summary

Pho Nam Quan is widely recognized as a top destination in Montreal for authentic and flavorful soups, particularly the Bun Bo Hue, which is consistently praised for its generous portions and high quality. The broth is frequently described as deep and delicious, while the menu also features well-regarded imperial rolls and fresh platters at affordable prices. While the establishment is noted as a humble hole in the wall with a modest atmosphere and occasionally chilly temperatures, the fast service and consistent food quality keep patrons returning. Although parking can sometimes be a challenge, the overall consensus highlights a reliable experience that prioritizes taste and traditional preparation over decor.

Me & my friend had the pleasure of dropping by last week as the regular Vietnamese restaurant I usually frequent was full & this one was just a few minutes drive away. To my surprise, they had an extra large bowl of Bun Bo Hue. Compared to other similar Vietnamese restaurants I found that I greatly enjoyed their version more. The meat was lean with very little fat & the broth was not as oily like the other restaurant. My friend ordered a rice dish with pork chops. He also had the same impression that his pork chops were lean as well. The portions were also plentiful as well. The prices were similar to other restaurants, but the quality of the food was very good. The decor & atmosphere were average, & service was adequate & not rushed. We were served cold glasses of tea which hit the spot becuse the day was hot & humid. The restaurant had no private parking lot, but there was plenty of free parking on the streets around it Would I go back there, YES!

This place is a go-to for my family. We've always loved their pho! They offer two sizes: L & XL The broth is always so tasty & well prepared, & the portions are worth the price honestly. They also give us tea & there are chili & hot sauce as well as hoisin on each table! i got the bun bo hue & the noodles are thicker than i prefer but that is usually how bun bo hue is prepared! my father is a FAN of the beef tendons here Parking is difficult when u go on a busy day:
