Pho Cristal MTL comes across in reviews as a cozy, unpretentious Chinatown spot offering generous portions of authentic Vietnamese fare at affordable prices. The pho broth is repeatedly praised for depth and richness, with beefy notes and tender cuts, while the banh mi is described as fresh and well filled at a great value. Vermicelli bowls and bun bo hue receive strong praise for flavor and satisfying portions, and some comments note gluten free noodle options in soups. The staff and atmosphere are frequently highlighted as friendly, attentive and welcoming, contributing to a comfortable dining experience. Reviewers often call it a must visit and among the best for pho and banh mi in Montreal, with several noting repeat visits and reliable consistency. A few concerns appear, including reports of slow service during busy periods and a perception of too much salt or MSG in certain broths. Occasional remarks mention past changes in payment options, but most patrons leave feeling satisfied by the food, the value, and the overall charm of the place.
The food was delicious! I tried the authentic Vietnamese-style bún bò Hu?. The staff were friendly, everything was great, & I will definitely come back.
Delicious pho. Our server was very sweet & attentive. They provide complementary tea & fortune cookies. We took a sandwich to go. Great value overall! Also, the old reviews saying they only accept cash are no longer correct. I paid using credit card with no problem.
On our flight back to California from Quebec City, we had a long layover in Montréal & decided to explore downtown. We walked by this shop on the way back to the bus stop & decided to come in to get bánh mi & drinks to go. The owner was super nice & welcoming-it made our day in Montréal so much more enjoyable. The sandwich was pretty good-wish we bought an extra one to munch on at the airport. Thank you so much!

We ordered the special Bahn mo sandwich for 6.50 & for the price, it was good. I know they premade it but the bun was toasty , & the ham & veggies tasted really good.
Also ordered tarp smoothie but it was watery but still tasty.
