Reviews for Pas de Problème Café
Reviews often mention
coffee(37) chicken(18) vibe(15) jamaican(14) pattie(12) cheese(11) grilled cheese(10) cafe(10) grilled(10) patty(9) latte(9) quality(7)It would have been a 5 star if the service wasn't so unwelcoming & rude. They serve you as if they are making you a favour. If you wanna create an alternative & creative space, start with your attitude first.
The initial feeling when walking into the cafe gives a very positive vibe & a hint that this place might be something special.
As other reviewers mentioned, based on their prices, the size of their portions is insufficient. For example, I paid $12 for an average tasting egg sandwich which contained scrambled eggs, 1 slice of tomato, 1 leaf of lettuce & 1 bun. What's more, the sandwich was the size of a small child sandwich or a slider. Another nuisance is all the napkins, utensils & cup covers are placed out of reach of the customer. You have to remember to ask for these items. I don't think this is a coincidence. Instead, I think it's part of their deliberate effort in cost containment.
The decor is nice. However, the short sightedness in cost cutting will prevent me from returning.
What a little gem of a spot. Looking to try something different but very good. Then you hit the spot with this place. Afternoon lunch spot to enjoy one of their sandwiches or a different type of drink I'm speechless. & last but not least their Jamaican patty is a killer. & finish it off with a Key Lime pie forget it.
Coffee's good, but the homemade Jamaican patty & molasses/gingersnap cookies are absolutely insane! Employees are super friendly & the interior decor is very cute as well.
Had their patty, grilled cheese jerk chicken sandwich & a Jamericano… bruuuuuhhhh
Their patty crust melted in my mouth (no Diddy) & their grilled cheese was a great blend of sweet, spicy & cheesy. Went there for lunch before getting a haircut, 10/10 would recommend for someone who wants spice but has a mid-low tolerance. I would go there after a good jog around the Lachine Canal for a post run snack
I haven't tried the food, nor did I stick around for the atmosphere so I can't really speak on that, & I've only been here twice. The music is a little loud though, straight as you walk in also.
Except I'm not sure I'm gonna be coming back... I ordered a ginger drink the first time & it was awesome, figured it'll be my go to since I work in the area. But this time it came with too much ice & in a smaller cup...
When I asked about it, a different girl than the one that served me chimed in a little aggressively & said they'ran out'.. That it wasn't supposed to be served in the other size, etc..
I get it, sometimes that happens. But to charge me the same price for a smaller drink & act like its my problem was a little rude.
As a few people mentioned it kind of felt like'how dare I mention this?' , that I'm being extra when I'm just shocked that it cost me 7$ for pretty much a tiny juice.
The best oat flat white I had in Canada. Love it. Good vibe, perfect coffee.
Affordable prices for coffee & food. The breakfast sandwiches are just great & being their is such a great vibe! Im always discovering new music when i stop by
The environment of the restaurant was really nice. I really like what they did with the decor & ambiance. It's a modern take on Jamaican restaurant/cafe which I find is a really unique concept. To add, staff was really nice & attentive to us. Although, for the amount of food you get, it's quite pricey. I would come here to study & have a small snack but not really a spot to have a full meal.
Best cafe in St Henri hands down from atmosphere to food to service, I could eat these patties everyday & never get tired!
I recently tried their 1/4 jerk chicken with side of plantain - although that sets you back over $20 before tax, it was delicious & worth every cent. Came hot & juicy, sliced up all pretty with peppa sauce & green onions while the plantain was caramelized with crunchy edges. Everything was levels above your standard jerk plate & executed perfectly.
Great coffee & good vibes. Come enjoy the terrace in the back & your daily does of homemade Jamaican food :-)
I've been once to this place & all peoples were my friends. Says something about quality service & coffee, as well as the quality of humanity.
Finally, something that feels both creative & welcoming in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is chill, the decor is fun, & it's a great place to relax or meet up with friends.
The only downside during my visit was the attitude of the person at the counter. They
seemed a bit full of themselves kind of aloof & not very approachable, which felt out of place in such a laid back environment. It's not a huge deal, but it did affect the overall experience.
Still, I'd come back for the coffee & the ambiance just hoping for friendlier energy from the staff next time.
