For the past 30 years, Chef Anil has been cooking up creative and delicious dishes from all over India. Born and raised in Delhi, India, Anil got his Diploma from the culinary school. He has worked as Chef in elite 5-star hotels like Oberoi’s, Park Royal and Park hotel in Delhi. He has also launched an Indian restaurant in Moscow, Russia in the year 1997. In 2006, he participated in the LE CORDON BLEU – CULINARY CUP held in New Delhi. Later in the year 2006, Anil got an opportunity to come to Montreal, Canada to work for a fine dining Indian restaurant. Now Anil is all excited with this new venture to cater the people of Montreal and test their tastebuds with the food from all over India.
Masala Art stands out as a warm, flavorful Indian dining spot with something for everyone, from crispy momos and chaat to rich butter chicken, biryani, and tandoori dishes, all described as fresh, boldly spiced, and served hot. Guests repeatedly celebrate generous portions, good value, and a welcoming, attentive atmosphere, with many saying the food tastes like home and travels well with leftovers. The restaurant's versatility is highlighted by quick service on some visits, great takeout, and even event catering, alongside notes that some staff moments could be smoother. Overall, Masala Art emerges as a go to option for authentic Indian flavors on the West Island, appealing to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners and visitors from Montreal and beyond.
We've eaten there twice. Chicken Cheri & was delicious, also aloo baigan. Mixed vegetables, rice & naan. We liked the Malai kofta sauce, but less the balls. The service was very good. Watch out the front door slams when both doors are open. My hand got hurt by the slam.
We will be back to try other items on the menu.
Very delicious Indian food & in my opinion, best enjoyed at the restaurant where it's served hot & fresh. All the dishes we ordered were so flavourful. I usually find biryanis a bit dry but their Chicken Biryani is the best I've had. We also really enjoyed the Butter Chicken, the Baingan Bharta (eggplant) & the Andhra Style Prawns Masala. We brought leftovers home & it was still delicious the next day.

Having worked with Chef Anil in the past, including during his time at Karma, I was excited to see him open his own place-& it absolutely delivers.
He brings the same refined, authentic, high-end approach he was known for, but in a setting that's far more accessible without sacrificing quality. The flavors are bold, layered, & genuinely transportive-some dishes keep taking you straight back to Mumbai.
This is top-notch Indian cuisine done right: thoughtful, balanced, & deeply authentic. A must-try for anyone who truly loves Indian food.
Nourriture tres bien.
This is my favorite Indian cuisine spot in the West Island & all over Montreal. What I love about it is the consistency of the great food they serve & the friendliness of the staff. Last night we were a group of 12 & everyone loved the food, the service, & the affordability of all the authentic dishes we ordered.
The food quality was outstanding. Every dish was rich in flavor, perfectly spiced, & clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The aromas alone were mouthwatering, & the presentation was just as impressive. Each bite felt authentic & satisfying, reminding me of true Indian home-style cooking with a refined touch.
J'y ai fait la connaissance de la cuisine indienne aujourd'hui. Je n'ai jamais été tenté auparavant. La cuisine est excellente, les plats appétissants & le service impeccable.
Bravo Masala Art

I went yesterday with my husband. We were served by perveen. She was really helpful explained all the menu & everything. We had a samosa plate & 2 plates with the curries. Was too much we were so full but we are everything because was delicious!! We will come back again
We went here for dinner after a couple years for our mom's birthday. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was so good & all came out on time. We enjoyed a variety of dishes from samosa chaat, onion bhaji, fish pakora, chicken tikka, kabobs, chicken curry & a variety of veggie dishes. Their tandoori skills are fantastic! I highly recommend trying those dishes. I know everyone goes for the creamy ones like butter chicken, but the chicken curry is fantastic! The best part is that you know they are using good ingredients in a clean kitchen because all 7 of our group felt great after the meal. The only improvement that I think would elevate it to the next level is to invest in a proper serving staff. While there were really nice, it would take this restaurant to the next level. Well done! Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in Montreal.
