Review Summary

Marché Artisans is described as a cozy, relaxed spot in Montreal with a welcoming atmosphere and a wide, well-executed menu that spans pizzas, tartares, crepes, sandwiches, sushi, pastries, desserts and drinks. Guests note fresh, nicely presented dishes, generous portions, and highlights like wood-fired pizzas and house desserts, along with a strong coffee and pastry selection. The ambiance and seating feel inviting for meals or a casual stop for coffee, with an emphasis on artisanal products and seasonal offerings that add variety. Service stands out for kindness, professionalism, and attentiveness, contributing to a sense of good value and a positive overall experience for families and friends alike.

Went to a sugar shack event here's the good, the bad, & the ugly.

The Good
The food was excellent. Highlights included the maple'pouding chômeur' absolutely amazing & the mini apple pies, which were perfectly executed.

The Bad
The buffet-style setup made it challenging to move through the line smoothly. Food was displayed on top of a bar-height counter with heat lamps. If you're shorter, it's very difficult to reach. Even for me, serving myself pea soup from a kettle placed that high was awkward & not practical.

The layout is not designed for the volume they're handling. It creates choke points & long, uncomfortable lines due to limited space.

Another issue with this setup is that you need to plan your entire meal in one pass grab your drinks, cold items, pastries, & hot food all at once. There is also a missed opportunity for upselling, as there is no table service for items like cocktails.

The Ugly
You have to pay upfront, which is fine, but you're then given an empty plate as proof of payment. Seating is first come, first served, wherever you can find space. The dining room also doubles as a café/market, which negatively impacts the overall atmosphere. It feels like a disconnect between the intended refined décor & the actual experience.

The staff were pleasant, but they seemed unprepared for the volume of guests. They were reacting rather than operating with a clear plan.

Opportunities for Improvement

1- Increase the number of coffee thermo (there was a 15-minute gap with no hot coffee available)
2-Create multiple service stations over a larger area to reduce congestion
3-Separate cold sections (e.g., one fridge for smoothies & juice, another for items like cretons & cheese)
4-Improve food temperature hot items were not consistently served hot

Conclusion
I would give them another chance. The fundamentals of the food are strong, & the service & setup issues seem fixable with better planning & execution.

Good location to pass by & get something to drink & eat. Run by an amazing team.
If not here, Kréma (café) is available on the other side.

There is a variety of food, drinks & other items available to buy.

-Food: Sandwiches, sushi, pastries, desserts, cakes, chocolate, pizza, crêpe, & charcuterie are highlights.

-Drinks: Coffee, tea, & different drinks.

If you need desserts or cakes, this is definitely a place to check out. Charlotte cake is very good.
Around Christmas, holiday logs & other limited time offers are available.

Fabulous cafe & gift shop & food market in the main lobby at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Everything is super fresh & delicious. The bakery is second to none. During April 2024 there was a really cute Barbie themed cafe setup.
