Glen Spence has been producing excellent bagels made by hand. Always fresh, its bagels are cooked in a wood oven which gives them their signature flavor sought out by enthusiasts.
Reviewers consistently praise M.T.L. Bagel for fresh, warm, fluffy bagels with a wide variety of flavors and toppings and for creamy, flavorful homemade cream cheeses. Sesame is often the standout, but banana chocolate chip and cranberry coconut are also favorites, and many say the bagels make the best bagel sandwiches in town; some note that a visit is worth the drive and that the shop is a neighborhood staple with a great selection. A few comments mention occasional inconsistency in dough or service and the space being a bit tight for dine-in, but the staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, contributing to a warm, casual vibe that keeps customers coming back.
This spot captures the essence of Montreal: friendly staff, out of this world bagels & cozy ambiance. Did I mention the bagels? Perfect consistency & taste!

I'm happy to leave another well deserved five star review. We got a smoked salmon & chicken bagel sandwiches & both were perfect. The bagels were just right & fresh, the ratio to the tasty layers in the middle was ideal. There's also a little park with benches & a picnic table around the corner where you can eat your lunch. We are most certainly coming back next time we're in Montreal 🥇
Such great bagels, & don't even get me started on the cheese bagels. But one thing that always stand out to me is the great service. Everyone who works there seems to really like their job, they are always happy & smiling.
Best bagels in West Montreal? Quite likely. Wood-fired oven, mais bien sur! A dozen are $15 & change. Bring back their bag & get 13 for the price of 12.
I've been buying bagels here for 15 years. They used to be really good but things have changed in the last few years. I used to think the bagels here were better than St-Viateur or Fairmount but lately the product has not been consistent. My previous batch had some bagels which were completely uncooked. Today's batch the dough is light & fluffy like white bread. I will have to find a new local bagel shop. Any recommendations?
I heard about this place & all the great reviews & I had to give it a try for myself. I ordered 1dz seasame bagels & 1 dz mixed flavors such as coconut cranberry, banana chocolate chip, carrot pineapple, spicy all dressed, blueberry, cranberry, cinnamon raisin. Spicy all dressed has good, had a little kick to it, coconut cranberry was delicious (my favorite so far). The carrot with pineapple was also delicious. They were fluffy & soft but the true test is the next day, are they still like soft & fluffy. They are just as good the next couple of days.
