Review Summary

Reviewers describe Le Petit Senegal as a welcoming spot with a convivial atmosphere where flavorful, homemade style dishes such as mafé, thieb with lamb, dibi, and atike stand out and portions are generally generous, complemented by bissap and other refreshing juices. The service is repeatedly praised for friendliness and efficiency, and the restaurant is noted to be clean and inviting. Some critics note drawbacks including late orders and prices that feel high for the portion size, with comments that the lamb rice can be light on meat and occasional frustrations when substitutions reduce portions. Despite these points, several reviews hail the thieb as among the best in Montreal and praise the authentic flavors that evoke African cuisine. Overall, the sentiment is positive with strong recommendations and a sense that Le Petit Senegal provides a reliable, satisfying experience for those seeking African fare in Montreal.

If you haven't experienced Le Petit Senegal yet, you're truly missing out 🇸🇳🔥

From the moment your food arrives, you can smell the authentic charcoal grill & bold West African spices. The lamb dibi is perfectly grilled tender, juicy, & packed with smoky flavor. The fish & rice is rich, well-seasoned, & cooked with that homemade touch that brings real comfort. Every plate feels like tradition served with pride.

The portions are generous, the flavors are deep & satisfying, & you can tell everything is made with care. It's the kind of place that reminds you how powerful simple, well-seasoned food can be.

If you're in Montreal & craving something different, comforting, & full of culture, this is your spot. Whether it's your first time trying Senegalese cuisine or you already love it, this place delivers every time.

Support local. Taste tradition. Experience Senegal. 🇸🇳✨

From the perfectly grilled lamb dibi to the rich, flavorful fish & rice, every bite tastes like tradition & real West African soul. The seasoning is on point, the portions are generous, & that charcoal grill flavor? Unmatched.

If you're in Montreal & craving something different, comforting, & absolutely delicious this is your spot.

The food was excellent! I had the lamb Dibi which was delicious & some of the best I've had outside of Senegal. Unfortunately, the service was horrible. I don't know if they were understaffed or what, but the tables weren't clean & we had to ask someone to clean it before we could seat. The waiter was unpleasant & didn't make us feel welcome. It's a true shame given the quality of the food, if the service improved it could easily be 5 stars. Food is important but so is the service !
