Located on McGill Street, Le 409 is a contemporary Indian restaurant and lounge with a London influence.
The 409 offers a fine range of classic Indian dishes with a selection of delicious fusion creations. From traditional curries that make up vindaloo lamb to poutine with butter chicken, sit back in a warm and comfortable atmosphere in a Bollywood / Havana setting with one of our famous cocktails.
Le 409 is widely praised for its welcoming atmosphere, flavorful Indian cuisine, and attentive service, creating a consistently enjoyable dining experience in Old Montreal. Reviewers highlight standout dishes like butter chicken and lamb rogan josh, delicious naan, and well balanced cocktails, as well as generous portions and good value, with many calling it a favorite spot to return to.
Took forever to bring the food, probably 45 mins to an hour. They were apologetic & brought each of us a little doughnut which was nice.
I asked them to pack my food & they took my plate & never brought it back.
I left 15% tip which i guess for North American standards is not good after a mediocre service at best. She expected more i guess & didn't even say thanks & showed attitude as if she is not happy with the tip amount.

Nous reviendrons encore & encore!
Le restaurant est beau, l'ambiance y est chaleureuse & les plats toujours aussi bons d'année en année!
Le service est toujours impeccable!
It is an average Indian-fusion restaurant. The food is a bit bland & a bit too sugary but I guess that is very common in this country. Not authentic. But that is not a bad thing necessarily.
If you give specific instructons then that will be respected. The service was good & friendly. & the atmosphere in the restaurant was chill & elegant.
I have experienced dine-in as well as home delivery.
Went to 409 last week. Order the samosas & Butter Chicken they are amazing! Found the lamb korma average (needs to be spicier). But all portion sizes were good & the food was inexpensive for a restaurant in downtown Montreal.
Will definitely return.

Wanted to love the place given the other reviews I've read but the food was mediocre. The chicken tikka masala did not have the traditional chicken tikka & the sauce was quite bland- very tomato soup-y. The naan was decent but not like authentic naan, quite bready. We had grilled vegetables & paneer for starters…there were around 2-3 pieces of paneer with a whole load of inedible carrots (extremely tough), but the grilled bell peppers & mushrooms were ok. I'd look for another spot if you want authentic Indian food but the atmosphere were nice enough to enjoy with friends/family.
Really high, gourmet, best Indian food I have ever had - & yes I've been to London. Very inexpensive for Old Port area - at first I thought the menu prices for some kind of'tapas' or other gouging tricks, but then I realized no, that's for a main, & a truly filling one as well! Really nice, pro service who seemed to know just when to interrupt & when to leave you alone. A beautiful space too! Our new favorite spot in the Old Port!
Great atmosphere, but the food was just okay. The vegetarian dishes were normal & lacked the'wow' factor I expected given the amazing interior. Both the food & drinks felt a bit overpriced for the quality. Beautiful place, but the taste needs to catch up to the ambiance.
C'était notre 4e fois a ce resto, hier soir.
Toujours vécu une expérience 5 étoiles.
& tous les amis que nous y avons amenés on aussi adoré.
Repas très savoureux, ambiance agréable, service parfait.
On y retournera... encore !!
Wow!
