Reviews consistently describe L'Auberge du Dragon Rouge as an immersive, festive medieval tavern where generous, flavorful dishes and hearty portions are served with attentive, personable service and lively entertainment. The atmosphere is praised for transporting guests to another era, with interactive songs, a skilled bard and troubadours that engage the crowd and foster a warm, communal vibe. The menu is varied and often lauded for quality, with options for different tastes and dietary needs, including gluten free choices, and even brunch offerings. Guests appreciate hosts and staff who remember names and keep the mood upbeat, making it feel like a special occasion whether dining with friends, family, or colleagues. Many reviewers note they return for celebrations or repeat visits to share the experience with new guests. A few caveats appear: the venue can be loud and busy, the experience is not inexpensive, and portions can be enormous. Overall the consensus is that the combination of show, ambiance, and cuisine creates a memorable night out that is worth the splurge for anyone seeking something truly different in Montreal.
Went with a group of friends & had an amazing time! I really recommend it if you're into themed restaurants with a live atmosphere! Our server was Octave who was really friendly & hilarious - he did a wonderful job at entertaining us! The whole staff there that night were amazing, I sincerely recommend it if you get the chance.
Fun time with very animated staff; answered all our questions & were able to accommodate us with food restrictions!
The location is a bit random (on Lajeunesse) , & the restaurant itself has a big drink culture, so maybe something to be wary about if you are trying to cut back.
The food was decent but as we were a large group of people we shared a platter, not fully sure what was what (we had a mix of meats, sausages & potatoes).
