Since 1983, Restaurant La Molisana is the place to be to savour the delectable tastes of Italy. La Molisana is renowned for its fine Italian cuisine. Home-made pastas, veal, seafood and authentic pizza baked in our splendid wood oven. We bring to you, every night, a typical Italian festa that you will never forget.
La Molisana is widely appreciated for its authentic, old-school Italian comfort food that delivers generous portions and fresh, homemade flavors. Guests frequently highlight the quality of the wood-fired pizzas, hearty pasta dishes, and traditional veal options, noting that the restaurant provides a cozy, family-style atmosphere that feels like a home-cooked meal. Whether visiting for a casual dinner or a special celebration, many patrons enjoy the warm, welcoming environment and the attentive service that makes visitors feel right at home. With a consistent reputation for delivering a satisfying and classic dining experience, the restaurant remains a reliable destination for those seeking traditional Italian staples in a comfortable and relaxed setting.
If you want real old-school Italian comfort food (the kind that feels homemade, generous, & made with care), La Molisana delivers. This is not a trendy'small plates' place. It's a classic, warm, sit-down Italian restaurant with a welcoming, family-style vibe where you can actually relax & enjoy your meal.
Food quality & portions
Everything leans traditional & satisfying. Their homemade pasta is a highlight & tastes fresh, not factory-made. The sauces are rich & well-balanced (tomato-based, creamy, & rosé/vodka-style options), & the portions are generous without feeling sloppy. The menu also has plenty beyond pasta: veal dishes, seafood, & hearty mains that feel like true Italian staples rather than'fusion.'
Wood-oven pizza
Their pizza is another strong point. You can taste that it's cooked properly (good crust, not soggy), & it has that authentic, straightforward Italian style. If you're going with a group, ordering a pizza for the table along with pasta is a great way to do it.
What to order (safe picks)
• Homemade pasta dishes (great texture & flavor)
• Classic pasta favorites like carbonara, bolognese, & rosé/vodka-style pastas
• Seafood pasta if you like clams/white wine/garlic style flavors
• Veal main dishes if you want something heavier & more traditional
• Finish with a classic dessert like tiramisu if it's available
Service & atmosphere
Service feels genuinely attentive & professional, in a'regulars' kind of way. The atmosphere is classic & comfortable, ideal for a date, family dinner, or a celebration. It has that old-fashioned charm that's getting harder to find.
Value
For what you get (portion size, quality, & full sit-down experience), it's good value compared to many places that charge more & give you less. This is the type of restaurant you leave feeling satisfied.
Bottom line
A dependable, old-fashioned Italian restaurant in Montreal with excellent homemade pasta, strong wood-oven pizza, & a classic dine-in experience. If you want comforting Italian food done right, this is an easy recommendation.
1dt time at Molisana, had a good time listening to & dancing to very nice music. For a very busy night the service was good. My meal soup & pasta of the day, taste wise extremely good. Downside, my soup arrived leak warm & a small portion. My pasta was abit warmer, still it should have been hot. My main critic , for the price of 45$ there should have been 2 cantiloni & double the amount of gnoccis. Soup wise there should have been double the amount.I would go back if it was a special occasion, but otherwise no because it was too expensive.
We ordered it . It was very good . We had the shrimps pizza, the vegetables pizza,& another one with meat . Tortellini Gigi & the linguine vongole. My only thing is I wish there was more sauce in the pasta vongole for the amount of pasta . I will definitely order again .
A few months ago I had dinner here with some acquaintances. We tried some classic appetizers (including calamari), pasta, veal & pizza. Michele, Giovanna, & Teresa will take good care of you. Traditional Italian delights with a smile & a song! I will eventually go back. Despite the very poor company I was with (pretentious, uncaring) the restaurant stands on its own to ensure your experience is favorable.
Classic Italian fare served with a smile & a lounge singer on Friday's & Saturday's. Family owned for decades. Mom, Dad, & daughter are on site. It won't be the best meal you ever had however very far from the most inferior. I'm not trying to critique too harshly. Veal, pasta, pizza, & various antipasti done well. Teresa's service & disposition (owner's daughter) made the night most memorable. She's a sweetheart.
Nothing says Italian like La Molisana's. The moment you walk in & see that stone pizza oven, you know the food is going to be great. We were not disappointed.
Recently there for a big family event & we were very well taken care of. From the pasta, to the salad & main course; the taste of homemade Italian food was there.
& the service... Impeccable! We were treated like family & old friends. I have never received such amazing service at a restaurant before. Your needs are met instantly & with a smile.
Speaking about amazing service, Teresa is a superstar! Charming, funny & a smile you cannot beat. Truly the best service I've ever received.
I highly recommend La Molisana's. Thank you to Teresa & the rest of the wonder people at La Molisana's for making our family event that much more special. 5 stars all the way!
7 stars. The food, the service, the ambiance is exceptional. You fee like family.
Pizza's are delicious. Pasta's are super delicious. Portions are very generous.
The music & the singer, my goodness, they took us to another world.
Highly recommend La Molisana
Amazing service, homey atmosphere, the food was perfect, we ate calamari they were so good, mussels in sauce, love their focaccio bread. Main was farfalle pasta in a creamy pesto sauce... it was soo good, along with a fazzioletti stuffed with ricotta cheese, lightly covered with a rose sauce, yum, my husband had the osso bucco milanese served on risotto with fresh veggies, we cleaned our plates. Tiramisu cake for dessert
Had a wonderful evening, enjoyed the live music/singing. Greeted with a smile. Love this Italian family owned restaurant.
Well definitely be back.
