I honestly feel a bit bad leaving a 2-star review because the staff were genuinely kind & welcoming throughout our visit.
That said, I've tried hundreds of bubble tea shops over the years-it's practically an everyday indulgence for me & my family so I admit that I'm very hard to impress. Unfortunately, Kung Fu Tea didn't quite meet my expectations. Probably that's why they also shutdown in Vancouver around 2025.
We tried the mixed fruit tea, the brown sugar milk tea, & the the milk tea with ice cream. The mixed fruit tea was okay, while the other drinks were average at best. The one thing I really enjoyed was the pearls- at the very least they were fresh, nicely cooked, & had a great chewy texture which is a pass.
For me, some of the drinks lacked balance in flavor & didn't stand out from what you'd expect from a large chain operation. Since it's a major chain originating from New York, I assume a lot of the recipes & preparation are highly standardized, which may explain the consistency but also the lack of uniqueness.
The location itself is fantastic, especially being so close to the cathedral & right in the heart of Old Montreal. The surrounding atmosphere is beautiful & adds a lot to the experience. Unfortunately, I found the interior design quite underwhelming. It felt disconnected from the charm & character of Old Montreal, & for me, it diminished what could have been a much more memorable experience. So another reason to downvote.
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience by any means, & the excellent service deserves recognition. However, based on the drinks & overall ambiance, I personally wouldn't return & support.
Meilleur bubble Tea de Montréal pour en avoir testé beaucoup c'est le seul que j'aime (A1 my favorite)
Pretty good to have a cup of hot brown sugar bubble tea under -15C weather! After shopping arround in old Montreal streets~💪
Cute little bubble tea shop in the old city! Despite being in a very touristy area, the prices are pretty in line with other bubble tea shops elsewhere. The tea itself is delicious, not too sweet, & there are TONS of options 🧋 There's a good amount of seating inside, & the shop is bright & sunny. A good place to stop & sit for a bit!
Bons bubble teas, peu sucrés. L'endroit est très propre & bien situé. Je recommande
