Visiting Montreal for the first time & was curious to find Ecuadorian food as an Ecuadorian- American & I found this place with great reviews & menu sounded great. I was disappointed 😞 first, the service was really bad - it took like 20 minutes to meet our server & order. Presentation of the food 5/5. The ceviche mahi mahi tasted really bland. Not a hint of Ecuadorian influence to it. The seco de pollo was the best, portion was smaller than I expected. We asked for a side of white rice - they said they have no white rice. White rice is a staple in Ecuadorian food, made no sense to us. Yikes. My mother, Ecuador born, did not believe the cooks were from Ecuador. I will say I really liked all the Ecuadorian items, paintings, etc.

Absolutely incredible! This was our first stop on a food tour of Montreal & it was our favorite bite of the whole tour! Do not pass on the Ceviche 10/10

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. If you enjoy friendly service & food that is bursting with flavor, I cannot recommend it enough.

I first wandered in for their happy hour special - two craft cocktails for the price of one. I also ordered the ceviche, which was incredible. It was full of delicious seafood & the leche de tigre was incredible. The staff all speak perfect French, English, & Spanish & were incredibly friendly.

The ceviche was so good that I went back the next night for dinner, & I was wowed again. On the bartender's recommendation, I ordered the pork tonga, & it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. It was full of complex flavor, fall apart tender, & a perfect portion. It is served with plantains that are by far the best I've ever had.

Any time I'm back in Montreal, I'll make it a priority to return to Kawsay.

Everything was absolutely delicious. The plantain with yummmmm on top was out of this world. The ceviche was the best I've ever had. & leave room for dessert (the co-owner a French pastry chef), the meringue with passion fruit was incredible! A

I was very eager to try Ecuadorian food for the first time. The food itself was fine, however my rice was a bit cold & too crunchy as if it was reheated. The canchita was not fresh. The shrimp empanada was a little too soft & didn't taste like shrimp. I was expecting something more traditional, but I believe this was maybe more a fusion type of cuisine.

On the bright side, my mocktail was very good & the ceviche was tasty as well. The food was also well presented. The ambiance & music was also good & our first waiter did accommodate us to sit outside even if there were no chairs left. He brought us some chairs to ensure we could be on the terrace.

We stopped by for happy hour & everything was delicious. Our server Adam was super helpful! We got a blackberry & guanábana juice as well as the Mahi Mahi ceviche. I love the little popped corn snacks they give you at the beginning. Highly recommend the naranjilla & oat drink as well as the tomate de árbol juice. Really unique flavors & great environment
