I drove 30 minutes from Montreal's East side just to try Ikigai Sushi & Poke, & it was 100% worth it. The sushi was not only delicious, it was next-level. Everything was beautifully presented, with vibrant colours, edible flowers, & an incredible attention to detail that made the platters feel like works of art.
Every piece we tried was fresh, flavourful, & perfectly balanced. The texture, seasoning, & variety were just outstanding, easily a 10/10 on taste. You can tell real care goes into each roll.
What made it even better? You're served by the owners themselves, who greet you with genuine warmth & a smile. They clearly love what they do, & it shows in every bite.
Highly recommend this gem hidden gem!! You gotta try the shrimp tempura 🍤 😍
Whether you're close by or taking a drive like I did, you won't regret it. I'll definitely be back for more!

Outstanding Takeout Sushi Experience at Ikigai Sushi
While visiting Montreal with my family, we had the pleasure of discovering Ikigai Sushi-& it was truly exceptional. The quality of the sushi was top-notch, with the toro standing out as my personal favorite. It was incredibly fresh & melted in my mouth like butter.
What made the experience even more memorable was the unique takeout-style presentation. Unlike anything I've encountered in the Midwest, the sushi was beautifully arranged in a tray, crafted fresh to order. It felt like a high-end dining experience packed to go.
A special shoutout to the young couple who own & operate the business. Their warm hospitality & passion for their craft were evident from the moment we arrived. They made us feel welcome & added a personal touch to the visit.
If you're in Montreal or planning a trip & have a craving for fresh, high-quality sushi, I highly recommend Ikigai Sushi. It's an experience you won't want to miss.

Les sushis sont généreux, le poisson merveilleusement frais & savoureux. Je donne 6 étoiles pour les sashimis. En plus, les propriétaires sont tellement gentils & passionnés par ce qu'ils font. Si vous vous cherchez un nouveau restaurant préféré pour des sushis, vous l'avez trouvé !
Les sushis étaient très frais, probablement les meilleurs que j'ai gouté en take out, le service etait personnalisé & tres acceuillant. Le gout des saveurs etait vraiment bon.
Coming from NY, where you can find great takeout sushi, I have tried so many highly rated sushi places in the neighborhood & elsewhere in Montreal, but was always disappointed by the quality. That said, Ikigai is fantastic. The owners are incredibly nice people & really care about their customers. The chef worked at a high end sushi restaurant for 15 years & it shows in the quality of the fish & how beautifully everything is prepared.
I mean it when I say this place brought me a ton of joy today, from the conversation to the food. Considering how few restaurants there are in Youville, I am especially grateful this restaurant is here. The prices are really reasonable for the quality & amount of food you get. I had the 20 piece assortment, & there was a generous amount of yellowtail, scallop, & salmon, & the rolls were also delicious. I can't wait to come back!
One of the best sushi places in Montreal by far, accompanied by the most helpful, polite & kindest people I have met in the food industry. Their recall memory wrt their clients is second to none. Nothing but 5 stars here. Bravo!

Nous avons pris des sushis & sashimis combos - ils étaient immenses, super frais & absolument délicieux. La présentation était magnifique, les ingrédients d'une fraîcheur & d'une qualité exceptionnelles, & chaque pièce était unique, pensée avec soin par le chef.
Tout était impeccable - du choix du matériau des hashis, shoyu, à l'épaisseur parfaite des sashimis, le riz légèrement pressé & bien assaisonné, les fleurs comestibles dans la présentation… jusqu'au goût incroyable. Ce sont les meilleurs sushis que j'ai mangés à Montréal. On sent que chaque détail est fait avec amour & respect.
& en plus, les propriétaires sont vraiment chaleureux & attentionnés - on s'est sentis accueillis comme à la maison.
Merci à toute la famille Ikigai! On va revenir, c'est certain!

On nous avait recommandé ces sushis & nous sommes partis de Laval pour aller les chercher. Nous en ressortons hyper satisfaits!! Le couple qui nous a servi était super sympathique & très accueillant :) ils ont vraiment l'air d'aimer ce qu'ils font ! Ils nous ont fait goûté à du thon sur place avant de nous remettre notre commande pour emporter, c'était un vrai délice. Puis au moment de payer & repartir avec notre commande, à ma grande surprise, il n'y avait pas d'option de tip sur leur machine. J'étais mal à l'aise alors je l'ai mentionné puis ils ont répondu « tu aimes ça, tu reviens! On prend pas de tip ici » !! Juste wow 🤩 en 2025, c'est vraiment rafraîchissant comme attitude, je ne peux pas recommander plus cet endroit 🎉 j'y retourne c'est certain!! Tout était bon !!
