Nous y sommes allés un samedi soir pour célébrer l'anniversaire d'un ami. La nourriture était excellente & les autres serveurs semblaient très gentils & professionnels. Malheureusement, notre expérience a été gâchée par l'attitude de notre serveuse principale. Elle s'est montrée froide, impatiente & peu accueillante, comme si elle n'avait pas envie d'être là.
Nous regardions la carte des vins (très exhaustive d'ailleurs) mais comme nous ne connaissons pas bien les vins portugais, nous avions un peu de mal à faire un choix. Elle semblait agacée par notre hésitation & nous a conseillé de façon expeditive.
Pour une addition d'environ 400 $ à deux, on s'attend à un service plus attentionné. Dommage, car la cuisine mérite mieux…
Service was excellent. Our waiter was awesome. The food was good but portions were exceptionally small for the price point. The octopus had 2 tentacles. The shrimp had 3. The fish was a tiny fillet. The pasteis de nata was $12 for literally one + some berries. This restaurant felt like it was made for corporate clients who can expense the bill. For a family of 4, we paid through the nose for very little food.
The caldo Verde was good, but the sausage could have been cut up more, two long slices in a soup feels like a strange choice. The veal was fantastic, arguably the best I've had, with nice sides. Don't bother with the dessert, charging 10 for one very typical pastel de nata feels like robbery. I asked for a wine recommendation to accompany my meal & she just pointed out the wines by the glass without describing them at all, surprising for a place with a huge wine list. I did enjoy the Cabernet Sauvignon I picked though.
We were looking for some place to eat & literally stumbled across Helena. We were able to book a seat at the bar. The staff was friendly & super helpful. We had one of their specialty cocktails & wine. Both were excellent. The tasting menu was excellent although way more than you can comfortably eat. Everything was delicious. The steak one of the best I've had in years. For a great dinner & amazing service, give this place a try!
The best restaurant we've tried in MTL this year, fabulous food & service, try the discovery menu & let them bring you food, you will not regret!
The dishes at Helena are a delicacy. The caldo verde, bacalhau, & grilled seafood platter are phenomenal. My love for this restaurant is never-ending.
As someone who purchased chef Helena's cookbook several years ago, let me tell you, there is truly some magic in every one of her recipes.
