Dans l'ensemble, Else's est décrit comme un endroit chaleureux, accueillant et éclectique avec une ambiance pub et une énergie sociale, où une carte variée et des boissons maison rencontrent un service sympathique et attentionné; l'ambiance est détendue et conviviale, idéale pour des retrouvailles entre amis, une séance de travail tranquille ou un rendez-vous romantique; les plats vont du poulet au beurre et dumplings au mac and cheese, des tacos de crevettes et des mini burgers, avec des portions satisfaisantes et un bon rapport qualité-prix; l'établissement peut être assez fréquenté et bruyant aux heures d'affluence, mais le caractère unique et la déco chaleureuse donnent envie de revenir.
They say it themselves on their menu- this is not a restaurant, but a bar that started to serve food so as to stop getting fined/be able to stay open. Their drinks are fine (though options are limited), the bar itself is great, but the food is terrible. Service could definitely be improved as well.
Busy even on a Tuesday night in January, probably because it has a great atmosphere. I also tried the grapefruit cocktail which was decent but strong. Service was quick & friendly.
Plenty of character & personality. Great drink & food selection. Super nice ambiance & staff. The most cozy of places :) look for the book of secrets! Their food is delicious, specially the tacos & I love the winter warm drinks selection specially the Grog du Plateau.
Plateau's hidden gem & a true local favorite of a bar. A very special vibe & unique interior. It has all the drinks & nice food options on the menu. Just sit back, relax, & watch life goes by.

Lovely bar, amazing atmosphere to be with friends but could also be a fun date spot. Service was great! My friend & I were given free shots when asked if we would consider moving to another table to make room for a larger group. 10/10, recommend :)
What a wonderful place, amazing crew (thanks Alexia!), super beers, great music, fantastic vibe, beautiful decor.. made our trip to Montreal so much more memorable 💕 thank you! Will be back when in Montreal
A quaint cozy bar with lots of personality! After being a few times now, the best part of Else's is the ambiance. Though they have a food menu, it mostly is a place to grab drinks & their hot ciders are notably delicious. Expect to wait up to 20 minutes for a table most nights, I've never not seen it packed & people like to linger late. The prices for drinks are reasonable but not the cheapest for food. Their cheesecake is creamy & soft making a solid dessert choice. Accessibility wise there is a step at the double doors, & it's quite close quarters between tables & the bar seating. I would recommend in the area if you are looking for a quintessential plateau bar experience.

Her life story is inspiring. You can sit with your pint & read about it on the back of the menu & feel the weight of a life, the gravity of a single person making their way through the world, making their own decisions, travelling across the planet, touching countless other lives, & founding a resto bar filled with a bunch of little gremlin figurines.
Very cute bar on the plateau, clearly a place peoples go for first dates, it was super crowded & the place is kinda small so you can be really stuck. As for the food it was ok nothing special & I ain’t a fan of resto/bar making food from so many different places instead of focusing on making one type of food right & excellent. Personally they tried to mixed different cuisine together & for me the quesadilla with the Portuguese sausage wasn’t really going together since the Portuguese sausage is really over powering the taste of the whole meal. The salad was missing dressing for sure. The shrimp taco were good tho. The service was super slow & not so good my water glass was always empty & I was the only one at my table not drinking alcool…the waitress also asked us if we wanted spicy sauce which we did but by the time she came back we ended up starting to eat since it was super long before she came back & everybody like to eat while it’s hot, we almost finish our plates by the time we had the sauce. But overall it’s a cute place, to eat maybe not the place but clearly it’s a bar first, I believe when you just go with a friend for a drink it’s a good place.
