Darna Bistroquet earns praise for excellent cuisine with Moroccan and Mediterranean flavors reimagined with a modern touch, and portions are generous. The warm, welcoming service and cozy atmosphere come up repeatedly, with a charming terrace in summer. Brunch is a standout, with several plates noted as tasty and satisfying. The staff are attentive and friendly, often going the extra mile and sharing a bit of culture. Dishes are well presented and the drinks are creative, adding to the overall experience. Some reviews mention busy nights or occasional uneven seasoning, but the overall impression is very favorable and many would return.
Not to be dramatic but I'm writing this review as I eat my meal because it's SO good. We got the grilled haloumi toast & it's absolutely delicious. Such a unique dish, & the atmosphere & staff are great. This bistro is a must visit!!!
We had a fantastic dinner for a 70th birthday. We unexpectedly needed to add our twin toddlers at the last minute when child care fell through & the staff was so friendly & accommodating. The food is outstanding, it was so delicious & unique. We shared a whole bunch of options between 7 adults & all got to try so many different things. We couldn't recommend this restaurant more.
We came here for my mom's 70th birthday & it was incredible. First, the food was a thing of dreams. Every dish tasted very unique & delicious. Charred Leeks, Brussel sprouts we ordered extra of. The vegetables were so good that it made people who do not eat vegetables into vegetable eaters. At the end we ordered more bread to eat the sauces. I might fantasize about the mushroom tajine for the rest of my life. The Quail was so so good that we fought over the last pieces. Second, the service was incredible. Our babysitter cancelled & we showed up with our 3 year old twin boys (it was a 70th birthday, cannot miss that!) & even with a full restaurant with reservations they accommodated us. Normally, this is NOT a place I would advise kids, so don't read this & think you should bring your kids, but this shows the level of service-- we showed up frantic & they made us feel welcome & gave us a beautiful space & were so kind & gracious to us. 3rd, The bathroom decor is amazing. They had booster seats but no changing table in the bathroom, just FYI, I would advise hiring a babysitter for a night out & have it be a babysitter that does not cancel.

One of the best meals we've had - & not just meals in Montreal. Truly a special experience with amazing food. The tasting menu was tons of food for a great price. The service was incredibly warm. We cannot recommend this highly enough.
I was very excited to try this place but was a bit disappointed. The food was ok. Nothing extraordinary. The cocktails were really good though & the place is cute!
Was very excited to try this new place but got disappointed. The plates are rather small & it came out kinda pricey. Taste was okay- favorite were the octopus entrée & the sauce they used for the falafel. The chicken tajine was bland & not fall-of the bone like I would imagine. Service was just okay & rather slow. We waited at least 20-30min before getting our second wave of dishes. Usually, waiters do let you know when it's a bit slow but we never got an update & just waited. Wanted to love this spot, but unfortunately it was not it. Still a cute place for a date.

It's obvious this place is capable of turning out good food - we saw some wonderful looking sausages grilling out front with some other food people seemed to be enjoying. Turns out it was for a special event celebrating five years in business & you had to pre-buy a ticket. The special event also meant a DJ, & we were stuck next to him. It was loud enough we couldn't have a conversation & just wanted to get out of dodge by the end. As for the food, the mushroom tagine was too sweet, & who puts fried halloumi with a low-flavor fatty sauce? The harissa/lemon aioli with the falafel had no discernible spice or color, while the beans with the octopus were flavorless. The Brussels sprouts were kinda blah. It felt like they were trying for upscale with "delicate" flavors & a ton of fat, but we left feeling bloated & disappointed. & watching others eat better food made us feel like second-class citizens. On the bright side, the drinks were well done, & our waiter was friendly & helpful (he told us to order bread, which was the one food I really enjoyed). It looks like customers should stick to brunch here - the menu looks much more basic.
I feel bad writing this because the place is very cute & our server was very nice. But, we went in for brunch with a group of 9, it was moderately busy but not full. We waited over an hour for our food, which finally came out over the course of 5 minutes, & most of the hot dishes were "warm" at best. My partner & I had the shakshuka, which I was really surprised to have no flavor at all (they thought the same), which was weird because I've loved pretty much every other shakshuka I've ever had. It was also an incredibly small portion, & for some reason was a higher price than most other things on the menu. We were not able to leave until almost 2 full hours after we sat down. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt & say perhaps they are not used to larger group sizes? We had made a reservation, so it wasn't a surprise to accommodate us. Overall I was just very sad to wait for so long & be so disappointed with lukewarm food that lacked flavor, especially when all of the other reviews are so positive.

It is a small family owned restaurant. Owner came to the table to speak & give his recommendations . He even got us extra dip- which were not on the menu for the bread! Food was delicious. It is small plates & we shared as family. Drinks were excellent.
Perfect spot for brunch! The food was delicious, but it was the atmosphere that really was my favorite part. We got the shakshuka & the grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was delicious but a little rich when eating the whole thing. Overall, very wonderful experience!
