Darna Bistroquet earns praise for excellent cuisine with Moroccan and Mediterranean flavors reimagined with a modern touch, and portions are generous. The warm, welcoming service and cozy atmosphere come up repeatedly, with a charming terrace in summer. Brunch is a standout, with several plates noted as tasty and satisfying. The staff are attentive and friendly, often going the extra mile and sharing a bit of culture. Dishes are well presented and the drinks are creative, adding to the overall experience. Some reviews mention busy nights or occasional uneven seasoning, but the overall impression is very favorable and many would return.
We went for Montreal a la Table. The appitizer of grilled halumi & eggplant were delicious. The other dishes were good but every main seemed to be in a thin soup that was quite one note. They were also quite greasy.
We went to celebrate a birthday & we were delighted that we had selected this exquisite restaurant!
Our server & guide, Eric, suggested we get a few plates to share & taste a greater variety. He recommended a few dishes based on our preferences.
We ordered the halloumi, oyster mushroom tagine, grilled asparagus & that evening's special was a grilled swordfish steak. The presentation, was excellent, the service attentive & the taste delicious. We loved most of it especially the mushroom tagine. Exquisite!
IMO the swordfish steak was bland & the pita was dry & unsalted. I still felt hungry after finishing I need more protein at my meals.
The decor was evocative of the Magreb & the Silk Road. The only detraction in the ambience was having the music too loud to converse with ease.

Overall experience was phenomenal. Some very creative & delicious dishes. Unique flavors that complemented the unique atmosphere. Their starters & small plates were the star of the show & they had good cocktails too.
Darna is all about exquisite Moroccan food coupled with excellent service. This is a farm-totable-restaurant that serves dishes full of flavor, & creative drinks. I can't wait to go back.
Reviews are very misleading. The food was probably some of the worse food I've ever had in Montreal. Not sure if that night something was wrong, but all the dishes ordered werent good. The service however was very good. The hallomi was extremely overpriced. As someone who cooks homemade & knows the prices well, three tiny piece that were extremely dry was 18$. The octopus was not edible at all. In face we took one piece & didn't touch the rest, the waiter kept asking if we wanted to finish it, but we couldn't. It was so hard & no taste at all. The kefta was more dry then the Sahara dessert. Absolutely horrible. Ill keep it at that. I know the restaurant business is hard, but for what we paid for all that food that was really not great, I feel like I burned my money. Really disappointed.

We had a picnic box & falafel balls for twelve people on the weekend & everyone raved about the flavours. The spices & herbs in the small dishes (eggplant zaalouk, red pepper muhammarah) are out of this world good. Best falafel ever. Highly recommend Darna, everyone asked where I had ordered our wonderful lunch.
Was very excited to try this new place but got disappointed. The plates are rather small & it came out kinda pricey. Taste was okay- favorite were the octopus entrée & the sauce they used for the falafel. The chicken tajine was bland & not fall-of the bone like I would imagine. Service was just okay & rather slow. We waited at least 20-30min before getting our second wave of dishes. Usually, waiters do let you know when it's a bit slow but we never got an update & just waited. Wanted to love this spot, but unfortunately it was not it. Still a cute place for a date.
I feel bad writing this because the place is very cute & our server was very nice. But, we went in for brunch with a group of 9, it was moderately busy but not full. We waited over an hour for our food, which finally came out over the course of 5 minutes, & most of the hot dishes were "warm" at best. My partner & I had the shakshuka, which I was really surprised to have no flavor at all (they thought the same), which was weird because I've loved pretty much every other shakshuka I've ever had. It was also an incredibly small portion, & for some reason was a higher price than most other things on the menu. We were not able to leave until almost 2 full hours after we sat down. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt & say perhaps they are not used to larger group sizes? We had made a reservation, so it wasn't a surprise to accommodate us. Overall I was just very sad to wait for so long & be so disappointed with lukewarm food that lacked flavor, especially when all of the other reviews are so positive.
I found this place on Eater & decided that this would be the place to eat at during a small 2 night stay in Montréal. I was not disappointed! Moroccan cuisine, dishes with thought out flavors & textures. Our dinner was fantastic. Ordered the: Flatbread, Grilled Halloumi, Beet Salad, Chicken Tagine, & Grilled Octopus I thought the halloumi, chicken tagine, & grilled octopus were really good. I wish the pieces of chicken in the tagine were a bit bigger, I'd say. The flavor & texture was great. Crunch, salt, sweet, savory... all in the chicken tagine. All the dishes were fantastic, I would recommend!

Came here for MTL a table & it was amazing!! The service was efficient & welcoming. The food was amazing & I got to taste so many new dishes that were complex in flavor & texture but so delicious. On top of that, we left feeling so full but so satisfied compared to other tasting menus I've been to. Really awesome experience & I am definitely coming back!
The food is tasty, well seasoned & delicious. The menu changes frequently so it's a pleasure to try new dishes. The brunch is fabulous. The service is always excellent.
Excellent service & incredible flavors. We each had the discovery menu which provided a fun array of dishes. Everything was very good, especially the falafel, roasted eggplant, chicken tagine, grilled halloumi & rghaeif flat bread. The servers were extremely attentive & kind. Darna also has a selection of interesting non-alcoholic mocktails — including a great non-alcoholic margarita. Much appreciated!
We are planning a trip to morocco & decided to try this restaurant for the very first time. They are open for brunch close during the afternoon & re-open for evening. The staff went above & beyond the call of duty, they were super attentive, & took lots of time to chat with us. The food came very fast. You must try the mint tea. It is an absolute must. We had the Chakchouka & Merguez brunch both of which were delicious. The decor inside is very traditional, the music & decor give the sensation of transportation to morocco we believe. Thank you for this great experience we highly recommend others to try & we will return to try more dishes.
