About

Comon specializes in the art of Korean fried chicken, delivering pieces characterized by an exceptionally thin, shatteringly crisp exterior and succulent, tender meat within. Each order features a selection of signature glazes ranging from pungent garlic soy to fiery gochujang, ensuring a precise balance of savory and sweet profiles. The menu extends beyond poultry to include various traditional comfort food staples prepared with authentic techniques and high quality ingredients. Diners encounter a focused selection of appetizers and sides designed to complement the dominant poultry offerings through contrasting textures and bold fermentation profiles. The interior aesthetic prioritizes functional simplicity, allowing the sensory experience of the spiced crust and aromatic sauces to remain the primary focus. Consistent preparation methods ensure that every batch of chicken maintains its signature crunch and temperature integrity from the first bite to the last.

Review Summary

Comon is widely regarded for serving some of the best and most authentic Korean fried chicken in the city, with many diners praising its crispy texture and flavorful sauces. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere that feels like a small shop in South Korea, making it a popular spot for couples and small groups. While the majority of patrons have positive experiences with the service and the generous portions of dishes like tteokbokki, gimbap, and pancakes, some feedback highlights inconsistencies in food quality, service delays, and small dining space limitations. Despite occasional issues with order accuracy or specific dishes not meeting expectations, the overall sentiment remains appreciative of the genuine flavours and the effort put into providing a quality dining experience.

Got the seafood pancake & the boneless sweet & spicy chicken. Both were absolutely delicious, but kinda expensive. Like I had both in one sitting & that cost me 50 before taxes.

Went on a Friday night, very quiet. The waitress did minimum effort to serve us & straight up put a large amount of tip herself on the machine when we paid.

Fried chicken is decent, it's super crispy. I brought the left over home & it was still crispy. Soy & garlic is not very saucy. If you like to dip your chicken in sauce I recommend green onion fried chicken.

Other notes:
-Rice cake is good & medium spicy.
-5 small Rice roll cost 10$ very pricy.
-The pitcher of beer came with some room temperature glass.

Ordered on Ubereats & the chicken came as the smallest portion possible - definitely the smallest compared to other similar Korean restaurants' in similar price range. Chicken is also dried & hard.

I've been a Comon customer since 2018, & I still go there. Simply because it's a bit hard to find a better restaurant since Shabu Shabu closed their business. I'll keep the review short. Quality : Hard to find better Korean restaurants in Montreal 5/5 Quantity : Decent portions 5/5 Price : Since the pandemic, prices have risen drastically. I'd give them a 3/5 as a full chicken for $50 is just out of control. Service : Acceptable. Like many restaurants, they overpromise ETA pickup time. I hate this because they know that if the ETA is too long, people will cancel order. 3/5 All in all, 4/5 is a fair score.
