chicken(190) fried(96) fried chicken(89) korean(46) recommend(35) sauce(28) spicy(27) crispy(24) soup(22) honey(20) fries(19) flavour(19)I learned about this place recently because my white son (my lovely wife is vietnamese; his mother, my ex-wife, is white) & his little korean girlfriend come here often. The food was okay, just okay, because my vietnamese wife did not mention how it reminded her of home, so it must've not felt that authentic. I used to not pay any mind to where they would dine at, but recently his receipts have been alarmingly high. I asked him why, & he said the store rebranded so the prices got higher. As a husband, I must take my beloved asian wife out on dates, & even though we pay separately, I cannot afford to give my son that much pocket change. However, I was very excited to see that my son & I shared the same taste for women (sidenote, I'm not really sure which Korea his girlfriend is from, but she is pretty regardless), so I asked my good for nothing youngling if he, & more importantly, his girlfriend, liked the food. I am writing this to complain that not only did the price go up, the portions went down & they leave with a half full belly! & he told me the menu options got'nuked' (not really sure what that means), & that he is considering taking his girlfriend elsewhere. I'm afraid I won't be able to afford giving him any more pocket change. I love my vietnamese wife, & the taste of vanilla, too much, to afford to give him any more money to take his petite girlfriend out. Also, one of the workers is really not easy on my eyes. Since when was it acceptable for waiters to wear hooded sweaters on the clock?! A terrible example for my teenage son, who has been dining here for God knows how long before I came & found out how debauched the workwear was!
i needed to eat this with rice so badly but ended up just going riceless
also it's my friend's birthday so enjoy a picture of him i guess. sorry if the pictures stink i didn't really try
I will miss Ganadara but this is just as good. Maybe more cocktail options would be good
I visited last week with my friends. We were a big group, & we added a few more people later, but the staff handled everything super kindly. We ordered chicken, udon, & cocktails, & the food came out really fast.
The Supreme chicken was crispy & spicy, & the Padak had a great balance of the tangy sauce & the pile of green onions on top.
The cocktail with aloe juice was super pretty & tasted great too.
Thanks again for the amazing service & delicious food! I'll definitely be back. 🫶✨
One of the cleanest restaurants I've visited. Staffs are charming.
Try their pickled radish I think it's pretty good in my opinion just my thoughts though
Nous sommes allés par hasrd un jeudi soir & c'était vraiment cool & un très bon service de la part de Hans. Delabouffe typiquement Coréenne avec une ambiance musicale parfaite! On y retournera sous peu!
I visited Chimaek Gana a few days ago, & it was a great experience overall. I ordered the Supreme Chicken & udon, & both dishes were delicious. The chicken was incredibly crispy - exactly the kind of texture you want - & it paired perfectly with a cold beer.
The service was also excellent. The staff were very kind, attentive, & quick to react to anything we needed, which really made the meal even more enjoyable.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Chimaek Gana if you're looking for tasty food, great chicken, & friendly service.
Definitely the best korean fried chicken in MTL. I have been here a few times & the chicken was always very crispy & juicy, but not oily. While the Supreme was my favourite fried chicken, I enjoyed the Makchang (grilled intestines) even more. Very reasonably priced spot for a date or with friends. Will definitely be back!
The fried chicken there is out of this world.
2025 review update - unfortunately, the menu changed & was merged with the now-closed Ganadara. There are fewer choices & they're more expensive now.
This used to be the place I frequently go with friends with reasonable price fried chicken & good beer, but now the menu is completely changed. Fried chicken is no longer affordable, there are way less choices, & the portion is smaller. It's now just another over-priced korean place with ok-ish food
terrible after changing menu. they changed chef too i guess. food is worse than before. everything doesn't taste as good as before. food quality decreased, menu has less food.
Came on Sunday the 26th of October & the fried chicken was SO salty. I think they might have put too much salt in the fried chicken batter because the sauce itself wasn't what was salty. The food overall went down since they opened & the menu seems smaller with less chicken flavours & types ,only boneless (which is cut too thin) or drums.
The music choice was questionable, until 9Pm songs like Gucci Gang, Megan thee stallion & Cardi B were blasting. Floor staff were nice.
After Chimaek Gana's renewal, I was super excited to try their new menu. I ordered the truffle fries & my favorite chicken, Honey Butter, but the sauce was way too salty. It tasted like there was too much soy sauce in it. Honey Butter should be sweet, but this one was just extremely salty, & I felt uncomfortable while & even after eating it. It went from being my favorite to my least favorite. I don't think I'll order it again next time. Instead, I'll try the Bulgabi & Babypowder flavors-hopefully, they haven't changed too much 🙂.
Un sitio muy bonito y tranquilo donde puedes tomar algo con amigos!
We were disappointed to find the menu changed, with way less fried chicken flavors :( it used to be my go to restaurant but i will now have to go less
The food was delicious , but they are hard to reach on the phone , other than that , it was a good experience
Opening hours are made up as they go. Food downgraded a lot since they first opened.
