A very unpretentious place but good food for the value. It's a small place that could use an update & they sat us in an awkward spot where the waiters were pretty much on top of us each time they went by. Make a reservation if it's the weekend & ask for the back room to avoid sitting near the entrance during winter .

Always impresses me when a restaurant has stood the test of time. This establishment has been here for what I understand to be close to 50 years. My first visit was almost 40 years ago! This 3rd ownership group continues the fine tradition, & has been doing so for well over 20 years. The grilled spicy chicken is sublime, served with house fries & tangy mixed salad. We started it all off with grilled calamari & octopus. Compliment it with some white wine, espresso with natas, & you can't go wrong. Desfrute de sua refeiçao!
Meilleure soirée depuis fort fort longtemps! Ils nous on reçu avec les bras ouverts, chansonnier a la guitare & des plats succulents, même si il était 11:30 pm! MERCI ENCORE!!!
Our experience at Chez Dorval was unfortunately disappointing. Despite being seated promptly, we didn't receive water until halfway through our meal, & napkins were not provided until the end. The service was slow; it took a while for our waiter to take our order. When one of our friends needed a few extra seconds to decide, the waiter appeared frustrated & began tapping his pen on the table, which felt quite rushed. Additionally, when another friend asked for the drink menu, it never arrived, & a beer ordered by another friend took 15 minutes to be served. While we understand that everyone has off days, we hope the service can be improved for future guests.
Delicious food, friendly service, nice atmosphere. Our waiter was really nice. He spoke English well & helped us to decide what to order. Highly recommend this restaurant!
One of my favourite place. They do porc & clams (plate from Alentejo area ) very very well. In business since I was a kid (1975?) Like very few places, they maintain the quality over time. & the servers are part of the decorum. Real Portugal in Mtl. For those who look for good food with no frills.
