About

Chalet Thai specializes in authentic Southeast Asian cuisine characterized by a delicate balance of sweet, salty, spicy, and sour flavor profiles. The menu features traditional preparations including stir-fried rice noodles, aromatic green curry with bamboo shoots, and zesty tom yum soup infused with lemongrass and galangal. Ingredients such as fresh basil, Thai chilies, and coconut milk form the foundation of most signature plates, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation. The kitchen utilizes high-heat wok techniques to achieve a distinct smoky character in various noodle and vegetable dishes. A variety of protein options, ranging from succulent shrimp to marinated tofu, provides flexibility for diverse dietary preferences. This establishment maintains a focused selection of classic regional recipes served in a straightforward, accessible environment designed to highlight the complex culinary heritage of Thailand.

Review Summary

Chalet Thai is widely praised for its authentic and flavorful cuisine, with many diners highlighting the rich soups, fresh salads, and well-prepared main dishes. While the majority of visitors have an excellent experience regarding food quality and service, opinions vary slightly, with some noting inconsistent preparation on specific items like the General Tao chicken. The restaurant offers a highly regarded setting, particularly its pleasant terrace with scenic water views, contributing to a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that makes it a popular destination for both casual dining and special visits.

Very disappointed with our experience. We won't be coming back. Please go somewhere else.

We started with the calamari & peanut sauce dumplings. The calamari wasn't crispy enough, & the dipping sauce was quite unusual. The dumplings had a strange, almost perfumed filling, although the peanut sauce was good.

I then ordered the chicken red curry. After a very long wait, it arrived extremely sweet. The manager tried to blame the coconut milk, but we eat coconut curries regularly & they are never that sweet. When we asked if we could order something else, her attitude was rude & unprofessional.

Thankfully, our server was amazing & did everything she could to accommodate us.

For the price, the food was very average, & the manager's customer service was disappointing. Definitely not Thai fine cuisine or whatever they claim.

This was the MOST delicious Thai food I think I've ever had & it's not an exaggeration. I love food & I love it with flavour. I'm not someone to rave about bland food. My friend had the tom ka gai soup, I tasted one bit & had to order it too. The broth is rich & full of depth. The mango salad is fresh & the mint is a tasty touch. I'm a peanut butter gal so I got the peanut chicken with the sticky rice & I can't wait to go back for more. The sticky rice is chewy in the best way & I'm hooked.
Definitely a place worth visiting & the owner is delightful.

Hands down the best thai food I had in Quebec!! Taste is authentic, as if it is cooked by a thai grandmother. Nice terrace with great view is a bonus! & they were very welcoming of our dog. The service is welcoming & careful. I really recommend it :)

**Chalet Thai - Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue**

Had a really nice lunch at Chalet Thai! The **atmosphere** is top-notch - you're right by the water, shaded & relaxed, which makes it a perfect summer spot. **Service** was excellent - super friendly & attentive, made us feel right at home.

**Food** was good, around **3.5 out of 5**. Flavors were decent, but just a heads-up: rice bowls come as a small extra charge, which feels a bit off when you're already ordering a main. That said, the **Tsingtao beer** was a pleasant surprise - great to have a cold one by the water.

Overall, it's worth going for the vibe & the service alone - & with a cold beer in hand, it's easy to enjoy the day.

If you are seeking for a decent Thai cuisine, I do not recommend this restaurant. I was disappointed their food. It was overpriced. The taste was too ordinary. & the portion was small. There is only good thing you can see nice view.

It was our first time back after a while. The portions have drastically decreased & the plates consist of the protein & vegetables for a minimum of $22, & you have to pay an extra $5 for rice, which should just be included. It costs you a minimum of $30 for a small portion that doesn't fill you up. For the portion, rice should always be included. The pad Thai had 3-4 small shrimps. Guess we won't be coming back.

The waiter was kind & tended to us well. I ordered a chicken with red curry, which while pleasant & light, was a bit overpriced for the portion given. It also was surprising that you had to pay for a cup of rice, apx. 4$ for regular rice & 50 cents more for sticky rice, when in any other restaurant the rice is accompanied by the meal. A single serving of chicken curry with a side of rice was 31$. I believe that other menu items would perhaps be more worthwhile- although if you're looking for Thai styled chicken with red curry, there are better tasting & more reasonably priced restaurants downtown.
