Overall, Café Vito is described as a warm, small neighborhood cafe with a distinctly Italian feel, where the coffee is frequently praised for its richness and variety and the pastry case earns high marks for cannoli, pistachio cannoli, cookies, and other treats. Guests mention enjoying espresso, crema, cappuccino, and great coffee in general, as well as tasty light bites like sandwiches and pizza made on site. The atmosphere emerges as a major highlight, with friendly, welcoming staff, good music, a lively terrace in the summer, and a sense of community that makes customers feel at home, including a dog friendly terrace noted by some. Several reviews note impressive value and quick service, with prices seen as reasonable for high quality. The place is often described as a Montreal or neighborhood staple that reminds visitors of Italy and stands out for its friendly, upbeat vibe and regular crowds. Overall, Café Vito comes across as a reliable go to for coffee, pastries, and Italian style eats, with a welcoming staff and a charming, casual ambiance.
I miss my life in Toronto . Then I would come here for the Jamaican patty. The barista is always kind & patient with the practice of my French. Very much appreciated.
My personal favourite is their cookie. I tried the chocolate chips, the pistachio, the white chocolate/matcha. After my run around the Jarry Park, one of these coffee is always a great reward.
This is my go to place for coffee & delicious sandwiches & cookies !!!
They have excellent coffees I never leave this place disappointed, service is always very quick & on the ball!! Reminds me of Italy
Thank you!!! ❤?❤?❤?
Popped in here to meet some friends for coffee & it was delightful! Ended up making a whole lunch out of it. The coffee was rich & dark, properly Italian! My panino was delicious & the matcha shortbread is to die for. I had a bite of my friends' tiramisu & it was excellent. The cannoli was also super. The barista was warm & friendly, joyous even!
It's a tiny little spot & it's a gem!
There are many popular coffee shops who's only claim to fame is existing on Instagram. Then we have cafe Vito. Coffee is excellent, service is quick & their prices are ridiculously affordable. Vito & Gianna are just 2 awesome, hardworking people.
There are so many reasons for giving this high rating to such a special neighbourhood cafe which punches well above its weight. It's also to give a huge high five for building such an amazing summer terrace spot to chill, fuel up & watch sports (I came several times for UEFA Euro Cup games which was quite social & enjoyable) including the Olympics which is a real treat while sipping a notably excellent cold coffee chilled over night, & available in decaf no less. Also available with non-dairy milks or even lactose free which I discovered while chatting with James - one of their smooth operating baristas. He also helped me select the perfect sweet pairing from a plethora of dangerously enticing treats from several rows of glass jars. The one I ended up choosing (between it & a mean looking frosted lemon cookie) was what I would describe fully as a Quattro Stagione biscotti-style cookie bar or simply put omg not-your-typical-watch-your-dental-work-crunchy-one; topped with vanilla, chocolate, pistachio crumbles, & sliced toasted almonds. Quick shout out to Meabh (pronounced Mave) for her skills in assisting/ coordinating my order. Shifting gears back to their unique & accessible large corner terrace which has many nice nooks & benches to sit - plus one section is naturally shaded by a tall maple tree. Several large screens are placed strategically around to create various viewing angles. The crowd is a mix of locals & families, plus those who have heard through the grapevine that Cafe Vito is worthy of a trip from other parts of Montreal & even further afar. All this combines to create a fabulous neighbourly vibe which ebbs & flows throughout the day - allowing for plenty of people & dog watching - all of whom seem to be quite content spooning cafe cremas or gelatos in their mouths, licking soft serve ice cream, slurping slushes/ smoothies or a combination of both with an Affogato. Regarding the savory side of things they have plenty on offer to fill that craving including breakfast & bagel sandwiches, wraps, Nathan's hot dogs, grilled cheeses or those on ciabatta bread including veggie options. I almost forgot to mention their handy street-side order window for those on-the-go, with carriages or dogs in tow. Family owned & operated this cafe checks all of the important boxes for a go-to Italian cafe that isn't by default located in the Mile End or Little Italy par example. Keep up the good work. Oh, indeed their latte is spot on! Grazie & va bene!
Ordered a black iced coffee. It was served room temperature, without ice. I asked for them to add ice, & they told me they "had no ice" (like, what?). I love strong coffee but this "iced" coffee tasted like tar.
