Café L'Étincelle is, first and foremost, the story of Rémy and Benjamin — two passionate, hardworking, and complementary brothers who, on February 10, 2016, took over a small corner café on the lesser-loved stretch of Beaubien East, at the corner of De Bordeaux, between Papineau and De Lorimier.

Review Summary

Reviews describe Café L'Étincelle as a charming, welcoming neighborhood spot with a warm, genuinely human atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. Coffee is consistently praised for quality, with favorites like oat milk latte, mocha, and a Breton latte made with homemade caramel, complemented by a range of cakes and pastries. The space feels cozy and relaxed, featuring large windows and a straightforward, unpretentious approach to coffee culture that invites guests to linger, read, or chat. Hospitality stands out, with the owners and staff depicted as kind and inviting to locals of all ages, making both regulars and newcomers feel valued. Menu highlights such as omelettes, bagels, paninis, grilled cheese, a gluten free brownie and seasonal desserts add variety beyond beverages, reinforcing the sense of a warm, communal hub. Overall, it comes across as a gem in the neighborhood where excellent coffee and baked goods are paired with a caring, friendly ambiance.
