About

Banh Mi 79 centers its menu on the authentic craft of Vietnamese sandwiches, prioritizing fresh ingredients and traditional preparation methods. Crisp, airy baguette rolls serve as the foundation for savory fillings, including marinated grilled meats, pickled daikon, shredded carrots, and aromatic cilantro. The menu balances these classic sandwiches with a variety of light, flavor-forward Asian inspired snacks and refreshing beverages. Every preparation emphasizes a textural contrast between the crunchy bread and the tender, seasoned proteins inside each portion. The dining environment maintains a streamlined focus on efficiency, catering to those seeking quality handheld meals that reflect heritage recipes. Patrons encounter a straightforward culinary experience that highlights the nuanced interplay of sweet, savory, and spicy elements characteristic of this specific regional street food staple.

Review Summary

Banh Mi 79 consistently receives praise for its delicious and flavorful menu, with the lemongrass pork, caramelized pork, and satay pho being frequent highlights. Customers appreciate the high quality of the food and the generous portion sizes, often describing the experience as unmatched. While most feedback notes a warm atmosphere and fast, friendly service, occasional inconsistencies in order accuracy and timing have been reported. Overall, the restaurant remains a favorite for many, with visitors eager to return for both the excellent dishes and the welcoming environment.

J'ai commandé en livraison un porc au caramel avec vermicelles. C'était très bon mais y'avait quelques morceaux de porc qui m'inspiraient pas confiance. J'ai été malade le lendemain..

My comfort takeout restaurant! One of my absolute favourite restaurants for banh mi & noodles - I keep coming back for more. The caramelized pork udon noodles are divine, & I always get the fresh spring rolls to accompany them.

Ordered the pho soup, they only had rare beef as the meat option. Not the best place to get pho; there's better neighborhood pho around. It's more of fast food type of spot. There are plenty seats for eat in.

It's a weird feeling when you end up looking at the Google reviews for a place you have loved for many years & they do not match the reality. We have been getting 2 rouleaux (1 chicken 1 veg) & 2 noodles (both tofu & mushroom) delivered every now & then & it has always been great value & very tasty. This is not "authentic" Vietnamese but if you couldn't tell that from the outset you are being disingenuous. This is simply well-prepared takeaway food that is Vietnamese-inspired. Advice to management: the food has always been great but it's time to build on your success & make some updates to the menu. Be creative! We know you have the chops to back it up.

Un peu inquiète à la vue des commentaires mais agréablement surprise. J'ai commandé leur Bahn mi au porc & leur soupe poulet satay & c'était un délice.

My craving for a savory Banh Mì sandwich led me to the doors of Banh Mì 79, conveniently located in a bustling yet accessible part of the town. The ease of finding a parking spot set a positive tone for the experience ahead.

The interior of the restaurant exudes a subtle charm, with a warm & inviting ambiance complimented by the courtesy of the staff. My order, a spicy lemongrass beef Banh Mì, was delivered with efficiency, & its size hinted at a satisfying meal. The first bite into the warm, crispy, yet soft bun set the stage for high expectations.

However, the unfolding experience did not fully align with the initial promise. The distinct flavor of lemongrass was absent, a notable omission that made the sandwich fall short of authenticity. The coriander, although fresh, was poorly presented, hanging untidily out of the sandwich. The toppings were sparse, & the beef was chewy, not offering the tender, succulent bite one would hope for.

The request for a spicy kick was inconsistently met; the spice was concentrated on one end of the sandwich, leaving the other bereft of the desired heat. Each bite presented a fluctuation between the contrasting worlds of spice & blandness.

In conclusion, my visit to Banh Mì 79 was a journey through highs & lows. The restaurant delivered on speed, service, & the quality of the bun, yet faltered on flavor consistency, presentation, & meat quality. The experience, although not entirely unpleasant, was ultimately unremarkable – satisfying the immediate hunger but leaving the deeper craving for a truly exceptional Banh Mì unmet.

We’ve been here a few times & have eaten inside. It’s more of a fast food style sit down over a restaurant. They have high tables & stools to sit on. This time we ordered the beef pot Thai & the barbeque chicken vermicelli with two imperial rolls. The imperial rolls Were not as crunchy as expected, kind of felt like they weren’t made fresh on the spot. The dipping sauce was enjoyable. Even though you’re ordering to eat in, they serve your food in a box, not sure how I feel about that. I guess it could be a good thing if you can’t finish your meal & would like to take it home with you. You have chopsticks option & they do also have forks if you’re unable to use chopsticks. The barbeque chicken was good. They offer either fish sauce or soya sauce as a dressing. The beef pad, Thai, however, was slightly more flavorful. It’s best if you’re walking to this restaurant since parking can be difficult to find on Saint Catherine Street, it’s also possible to find a parking garage nearby to enjoy the area on foot.
