About us

Please don't be fooled by this restaurant's modesty... Although small in size, there are plenty of gastronomic treasures to discover at this restaurant that blends into the landscape of the great cosmopolitan city of Montreal. Atami, which means "warm sea" from its Japanese roots, is the first sushi restaurant to open its doors in the neighborhood. After already 15 years of existence, it's still oozes colors and flavors, ready to seduce you each time you visit. Come try one of our lunch tables d’hôte's which include five delicious services. And at night, come and discover our savory dishes and unique specialties, all ready to be washed down with a delicious wine from our vast wine list selection. In a truly warm atmosphere, let yourself be carried away by your desires as the chef prepares you one of his unforgettable creations. To end the evening perfectly, succumb to one of our decadent desserts...eat it alone (because you know it's too good) or share it (for the romantic in you). The ingredients are always of an incredible freshness and variety, of endless generosity and, above all, they are sprinkled with a hint of love that makes all the difference! So if you want to enjoy the art of eternal love, this "warm sea" will never cease to amaze you by constantly reinventing itself. And what is the best part of all this? Prices are extremely affordable and everyone can enjoy it, and hopefully you'll enjoy it forever...

Review Summary

Atami Sushi shines with delicious sushi and an impressive chef's choice lineup like pirate and geisha, inviting diners to focus on the real deal rather than decor. The atmosphere is enhanced by nice background music and a terrace upstairs that offers a pleasant summer view of the Oratoire St Joseph, while service remains courteous and attentive. Regulars praise it as a top among the best sushi spots and many have been returning for years. Flavors are generally strong with fresh sushi and creative plates, and while the teriyaki chicken is dependable and nicely balanced, some sides such as teriyaki vegetables can be overcooked and the shrimp tempura can feel a bit heavier than ideal, leaving room for refinement. Still, the overall experience leans positive with memorable plates, a friendly staff, and a welcoming vibe.

Food was good but PLEASE do something about that tank & the poor fish in there. It's an empty square with a pipe inside & nothing else. At least create some sort of an environment in there even if it's a solitary fish.

Atami has the best sushi in town. We have been eating there for more than 10 years & have not been disappointed. We always order the Chef's Choice; the sushi is fresh, the fish is tender, flavorful, a pleasant texture, & the Chef's Choice offers a great combination of flavors. Overall, it was a great experience! 👍

This is a fine Japanese restaurant located in Cote-des-Neiges. They have a varied menu & offer high quality, fresh fish. Be careful if you arrive during lunch, though, the sushi chefs are not to be rushed, so get there early if you have a meeting!
