This is the most white people Indian food I've ever had. I'm talking'Midwestern retired boomer with a house on Florida' white. Absolutely no flavour, no complexity, no spice. Hospital food. The presentation is good, but the pictures for the lunch menu lie to you as they show the main dish being the larger plate, while on delivery it's on the smaller side, way smaller than the rice. So, it's basically a side dish. I'm not complaining about the spiciness levels, I understand why it would be mid being in Canada, I prefer mid personally too. But, Indian food is not about the hotness, but the complex flavours, mixing & elevating each other in the curry. There was none of that. It was like a tomato soup but even that is acidic. I could not taste any of the spices, where was the cardamom, where was the turmeric? I tried two curries, couldn't tell them apart. No depth at all. I feel like getting a COVID test after eating there, just in case it's me. The vegetable side dishes were overall better than the main dish. The naan was fine, but a bit undercooked. Never coming back.
UPDATE: It has been many years & many more visits to Amber since I wrote my original review (below)... & still I feel compelled to add that Amber is more than a spectacular Indian/Pakistani restaurant. It is more than its fantastic food. Amber is... well... a (& yes, I know how silly this sounds... *smile*) a happiness experience! The staff, the decor, the insanely perfect food... Again we left the restaurant so content &... happy! ❣️ ORIGINAL: We "tried" to walk by this restaurant on our way home last week, but the food, the spicey smells, forced me back to the open window. We made a reservation for last Saturday night &... wow... Perfection. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in this area, but the quality & flavours &... everything here excelled. The one other bonus? The staff. They too were the best! Thanks to you Amber for a really great evening! See you again soon! *************************************** Seven months later, &... OMG!!! We have been traveling, &... We finally went again!! For the umpteenth time!! *smile* This time? Still amazing! I was a volunteer in Himachal Pradesh, & had the amazingly good fortune to (literally) live on Auntiji's incredible cooking. So, needless to say, I am incredibly spoiled... But Amber? It absolutely blew me away again... AGAIN! This is fabulous Indian cuisine. Seriously fabulous. The ONLY thing to come close to rivaling the food is the service. The staff are so wonder-full... I've been so fortunate as to have travelled in India a few times, & still... Amber is a "how do I stop myself from going there again?" restaurant. Seriously check it out. You will not be sorry! *smile*
Great Indian restaurant with big portions. They have bring your own wine concept, it's a great restaurant for celebrations as well. Ask a smiley waitress for suggestions of the food. :)

Ate there recently, the food is amazing, as a big fan of Indian food, this place didn't disappoint at all. I got the chicken tikka masala, with rice & got naan as well, while my family took the menu, with a whole lot of different kinds of food & we all loved it.
Everything here deserves 5 stars-food, service, & ambiance! The food was incredibly fresh, with impeccable taste, & the presentation was flawless. The servers were some of the kindest & most attentive I've ever encountered. The atmosphere is cozy yet intriguing, with a thoughtful interior design that adds to the overall experience. This has quickly become one of my favorite Pakistani/Indian restaurants in Montreal. I'll definitely be returning!
We are from Mississauga Ontario. A wonderful excellent Pakistani/Indian restaurant serves delicious food. We had chicken karahi, beef karahi, & chicken tikka boti. Meat was tender & exotic to the taste. Portions were generous. Salad & raita were very tasty. Anyone goes to Montreal must visit Amber Restaurant.
BUT WOOOOOWWWW, the food is just incredible, the taste, the freshness, the temperature, everything was delicious & impeccable! congratulations for your business!! 100% recommended if you like Indian/Pakistani food
I believe Amber offers the best overall experience for Indian/Pakistani food. The decor is sleek, offering what appears to be a vast dining area. The service on my last 3 visits has been pleasant is all aspects. On my last two visits I ordered the lamb biryani along with the saag paneer & bartha. In my book you can judge the quality of the establishment by it's Biryani, Amber's biryani is delicious. The rice isn't oily, there are just enough nuts & dried fruit along with a well balanced spice mix. The lamb (a generous portion) is succulent The rest of the dishes were also well spiced although I prefer the eggplant to be more present in flavour. The service is great My favourite place & to boot my dining partner will only eat Indian/Pakistani food at Amber.
The restaurant itself is pretty, but the butter chicken is absolutely bland. Perhaps one of the worse Indian food experienced we had. In addition, the waitresses are not too friendly, feels like you're bothering them when you're asking questions. You're much better off finding an actual authentic Indian restaurant on Jean Talon & save your money 😌
