Always a treat to go to one of the top steak houses in the province, not just the city. The wait staff is very courteous, knowledgeable & caters to every need. The selection of wine & the quality of the food is second to none. In short, incredible atmosphere coupled with excellent food & service!
J'étais à Montréal pour affaires & un collègue m'a recommandé ce restaurant. Le bâtiment est impressionnant, les serveurs impeccables & la nourriture excellente. Toutefois, la carte est assez dispendieuse, mais pour ce moment passer entre amis chaque dollar en valait la peine.

I had the rack of lamb, & it was fantastic. Unfortunately 3 people ordered filet mignon at the table & all 3 were undercooked compared to what was ordered. Don't do like we did & eat it anyway. If there's an issue with your dish they will make it right. Also, at the end of the meal the server hung around & actually tried helping us put the tip in. Not sure if they were trying to be helpful, but I feel like putting in the tip should really be left to the customer...

Amazing service every time! Buthy the valet always goes above & beyond - he keeps a spot ready in front for my Lamborghini & even takes care of my reservations. Chris the bartender is just as exceptional - friendly, attentive, & always on point. The Oysters Rockefeller are absolutely delicious. Highly recommend
I don't usually write reviews, but the experience we had at 40 West left me no choice. We politely asked the staff if we could take some photos in the space. They said yes. So we did. But while we were doing that, one of the servers (Rajid or Rashid )rushed by & slammed into my brother, breaking his camera , which wasn't just expensive, but something he uses professionally & that he truly valued. Instead of stopping or even checking if everything was okay, the server just kept going. No apology. Nothing. He disappeared like nothing happened. Naturally, we asked for the manager. But the moment he saw us , we could feel the shift. We weren't treated as customers with a valid complaint. We were dismissed, talked down to, & not taken seriously at all. To make things worse, the server (Rashid) completely denied what happened . Claming he never bumped into anyone (We even suggested that they could look the cameras). Not only was that a lie, but throughout the conversation, they kept misgendering my brother, even after we corrected them. That kind of disrespect is unacceptable. At the very least, an apology was the bare minimum ,not just for the broken camera, but for how everything was handled. We didn't even get that. Instead, we were treated like we were the problem. The manager stood by the server like nothing happened, like our presence & our experience didn't matter. It felt like they just wanted us to leave & forget it .Finally they took our contact & told us that they were going to reach out but they didn't & it's feels like it's was just a way to get rid of us .A restaurant like this should have basic policies in place for when an accident occurs … especially when it involves staff causing damage to a guest's property. The service wasn't perfect either, with a few mistakes along the way. But I had to highlight that an employee lied & didn't even apologize neither did the manager.
40 Westt is hands down my favorite steakhouse in Montreal. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality & a refined atmosphere. The steaks are consistently cooked to perfection-tender, flavorful, & expertly seasoned. The wine selection is impressive, & the service is always attentive without being intrusive. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual night out, 40 Westt delivers excellence. Highly recommend!
Got seated pretty quickly for dinner, which was a nice start. They only had one option for their fresh fish that day - we chose to have it grilled, & it turned out quite good. I was actually impressed that they managed to remove almost all the bones, with just a few ones left. The filet mignon was very well cooked; we ordered it medium rare & it came out just right.
The only downside was the lack of presentation, no plating at all, just a large plate with the protein in the center.
