Excellent service from Stéphanie for my boyfriend's 41st Birthday on Friday September 15th.
We had cocktails, wine, appetizers, the main course was hard to choose & you know how it is.... You always wish you had picked the first choice... (which was the Ossobucco ) Even the second choice which was the Risotto with fungi & cream & unicorn whispers====they will never admit it but they use it as a secret ingredient
So I had the Ricotta Gnocchi topped with Burrata. Still good bug I'm never really hungry by the time we get to our main courses.... Not after 3 appetizers & sometimes bread
It was awesome. Stéfan was very pleaded.
Stephanie gets mentioned in a lot of reviews because she is a pro & also quick, efficient & the right amount of talking back .

Hard time understanding the waitress. Spoke very fast. She seemed to be nervous. When we were asked if we would be having wine with the meal, we Cleary stated that we not be drinking that evening & that water would suffice. Despite that, she kept on insisting on other beverages. When we politely declined, she seemed to have gotten a little irritated. Other than that, truly enjoyed the evening & as usual the food was fantastic. That is why we are regular customers at the establishment....year after year.
What a great evening! Although the restaurant was very busy for a Tuesday & short staffed, we had a wonderful & well timed dinner. Stephanie was informative, knowledgeable on the wine & saw that some special requests on the orders were seen to. Very much appreciated! We will be back soon!
A nice discovery on the West Island... though the restaurant has been open already for a while, it was my first time & it was worth the visit. A nice menu not to big - not to small - well presented dishes, proper portions, great flavors. A nice selection of wines as well. Services was polite professional & attentive.
Always nice service & atmosphere
The filet mignon was to die for, nice sides & wine selection. A nice meal out.
Great service nice staff good food & wine list
really enjoyed my evening
Great ambiance...wait staff was attentive ...the food, as always, was perfect. The wine selection was excellent.
Very nice & classy Italian restaurant! Everything is beyond my expectation whenever I am there for lunch or dinner meetings. The setting, atmosphere, service, quality of food is amazing. Service is friendly yet attentive & professional, the guys really take care of you. I enjoyed grilled salmon last week for lunch as much as I enjoyed my duck break for dinner last night. Excellent wine list & nice choices by the glass also. A nice option from going to the village.
Awesome Italian restaurant with amazing food & great wines. Staffing & service is outstanding. One of the best in Montreal.
Whenever we are on the West Island (2x a year) we try to dine at La Verita. Post COVID hasn't changed the caliber of the servers & quality of the food. On this recent visit, our server Stephanie was excellent from her knowledgeable recommendations to her ability to tailor our meal & wine to meet our personalities. This restaurant is a great example of having excellent cuisine, with consistent execution year after year. We look forward to our next visit!
Lovely restaurant with nice ambiance, decor is nice, service is good, food was excellent. Wine & prices are a little over priced as at almost 200 dollars for 2 of us we wouldn't be able to go very often.
The bavette is to die for! Their entrees as great as ever. Octopus, burrata, & calamaris! I huge hit. & of course their amazing wine list! Thanks guys! See you soon
Very good food & service
Octopus salad was so good & octopus so tender
Also had elk with mushroom wine sauce which was the special of the day & it was great
Delicious food, very accommodating staff, fantastic wine - realistic pricing for the high quality
Excellent as always. Great food & wine. Service impeccable as always.
Wine was great - food very average, dont see the big deal. Waiter was nice, service was good.
Excellent food, wines, service, ambiance. Awesome waiter & bus boy with responsible social distancing precautions made us feel very welcome. Keep up the great work.

This was our fourth visit with family in two years (we come each time we visit from the states). The food continues to be high-caliber/quality. The servers are professional & know how to serve. One server recognized us from previous visits, which was an added pleasure. Our server David, had a perfect wine recommendation that matched our four varied mains. The specials are well-conceived & all of the menu items are well-orchestrated. Nothing gratuitous on the plates, & the garnishes are perfect, nothing superfluous. In short, this is a professional, high-quality Italian restaurant with excellent service. Some of the best escargot & octopus that we've ever had. They also had a perfect dessert with sparkler for my father-in-law's birthday. Perfect classy touch.
I found this restaurant on a simple web search & based on the reviews I read decided to try this restaurant with my wife on our anniversary. Suffice it to say the service & food were very, very good. They have a set menu which you can see on their web site but they also have a menu that changes weekly. My wife & I both chose from the weekly menu, she & gnocchi & I had osso bucco with risotto. The gnocchi was like a cloud & the osso bucco melted in your mouth. The wine recommendation was spot on & the carrot cake for dessert finished offd the meal beautifully.
The attention to detail & the wecoming friendliness of all the staff was perfect. I highly recommend!
Excellent friendly attention to detail. Strong staff work ethic & knowledge. Food was outstanding, tasty & beautifully presented. Prices are reasonable, great wine selection & attention to detail beyond reproach. Warm & family feeling within an elegant upscale setting. 5 stars
First time we were at this restaurant - simply fantastic ! Great staff - very helpful on selections, wine & making the night a very enjoyable experience.
I had previously visited La Verita on a few occasions, with each dinner being better than the last. Subsequently my wife & I decided to have our reception dinner there this past Saturday & we're delighted we did. Derek, the owner of La Verita is without doubt a professional, who is extremely knowledgeable, & obviously someone who cares about making people feel comfortable. From helping us finalize our menu & our table layout to his greeting us at the reception desk on our special night, assured us we were in goods hands. My wife & I & each of our guests, some of whom were already pleasantly familiar with La Verita, were overwhelmed with the beautifully presented plates, the incredibly delicious food, extraordinarily professional & attentive staff, who's timing was absolutely perfect with everything. Our waiter for the evening was friendly, attentive a pleasure to deal with & blessed with perfect timing. The décor is a clean, modern look, with wavy demi walls, giving an inviting softness. Lighting is gives a warm comfortable ambience. The wavy half walls also help considerably in cutting down noise levels. As far as the food is concerned, every dish was incredible. Elegant presentations, Grand choice of delicious appetizers (including La Veritas amazing meat balls), & of course the main courses. The majority of our guests including myself chose the 10oz filet mignon. I've had many in my time & La Verita's are the best I have ever had, quite simply PERFECT. That was the unanimous opinion from all at our table which speaks volumes for La Verita's ability to produce high quality plates on a consistent basis. Don't try this at home folks, these guys are professionals. Everyone commented on the delicious food, wine & how smoothly everything went & how beautiful the entire evening was. Food , service, decor & ambience.... If I could give more stars I would. I'd like to thank Derek, his manager Tommy & the incredible staff at La Verita for turning a memorable evening for 2 into a beautiful event for 16. Bravo! Aug 6 2022 UPDATE: After a few years hiatus, we recently returned to one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately our experience deteriorated considerably since our last visit. I ordered their signature dish (10oz Filet Mignon), medium rare, served with broiled asparagus & a single carrot. The service was perfect as usual. Unfortunately the filet mignon was slightly overdone, asparagus was borderline & the carrot was absolutely raw. But the most concerning was the ambiance of this once classy establishment. Tattooed bikers entered wearing so much perfume we were forced to ask waiter to change our table, then we were placed beside another table where 4 men who's language was so inappropriate, I was embarrassed for bringing my wife. Unfortunately management & staff allow this type of behavior. This restaurant desperately needs a makeover has now become a really expensive brasserie.
I have been a regular guest at La Verita since its creation. The first thing you notice is the truly warm welcome, the classic ambiance...& then you are overwhelmed by the food & the service.
From pastas to fish & their grill, I have tasted most of their items on their refined menu....everything is always at its best! The wine selection to accompany your meal (before, during & after!) will add to your experience at La Verita.
Even after so many visits I still feel that a meal or even a private event is always a great experience you will want to repeat!
I have traveled the world many times & dined in many luxurious restaurants in foreign lands or waters but La Verita will always be "my" place of choice at any time! Challenge me!!!
I've dined at this restaurant various times for both lunch & dinner - for both business & pleasure. Every experience has been exceptional. Montreal doesn't have a good rep for it's customer service (anywhere) so the service at this resto is quite the unique experience. The staff are all very friendly & attentive. Your wine & water glasses are always topped up without asking. The menu is not long & complicated & the chef even accommodates special requests. The entrees are tasty & the tiramisu served in a martini glass is heavenly. The wait staff is not pushy but relaxed. Tommy & Fabien are by far the best wait staff in Montreal. Bottom line, great resto & will go back - often!
La verita is one of my favorite restaurants. The menu is great with lots of delicious options & so is the wine! It is a great restaurant for intimate evenings or even for group parties. We have even had private parties here which were amazing. Definitely a must go to restaurant in montreal!
Our dining experience at La Verita exceeding expectations. The food & service were top-notch. We thoroughly enjoyed the grilled octopus appetizer & the lamb chops main course. The Angus steak was very good but not as succulent as the other dishes just mentioned. We had two excellent bottles of wine - Tenuta di Castiglioi (2008). At $60.00 per bottle - well worth the price. The service was superior to most other restaurants. We had he attention of multiple servers who seemed to enjoy their work & pleasing the customers. We'll definitely go back!
My experience at La Verita was great, from the ambiance to the music. It wasn't too loud & I could actually have a decent conversation. The interior decor was contemporary & a pleasure to view. The waiter was charming & very knowledgeable on the food & wine. His suggestions were pretty helpful. I started off my meal with the grilled octopus which was served with mixed greens tossed in an aged balsamic vinaigrette. It was enjoyable, flavourful & light enough that I was anticipating my entrée. However, my date wasn't too crazy about the foie gras as it was lacking in flavour & did not have the usual "melt in your mouth" effect. I wouldn't suggest it because it's pricey & lacked the wow factor. My main course selection was the lobster ravioli & it was al dente, creamy & mediocre. Whereas my date ordered the seafood risotto & it was excellent. If you like spicy, ask for a kick. I was most impressed by the fact that the scallops had a perfect consistency & they weren't too rubbery as most restaurants would cook them. Yet, the lobster claw & shrimp weren't enough. Lastly, I was able to feast my eyes on I-pad creations from the restaurant & I selected their house specialty, a maple cheesecake. It was eye candy & also offered many blends of flavour. Overall, I would go back & sample alternate dishes & would recommend it to friends.
Where do I start? First of all, after having heard about La Verita on numerous occasions through mutual friends, I finally decided to stop in & see what all the fuss was about. I walked in on a busy Saturday night & was taken aback by the warm ambience & welcoming staff. Once we got comfortable & looked over the menu, I had to deal with the inner battle of having to choose from the plethora of delicious sounding appetizers, followed by the main course selection ranging from traditional pasta dishes to an array of meats. I decided to go with the mozzarella di bufala to start followed by the lobster ravioli. The hype was spot on, the food was incredible. To top it all off, the owner, Derek, introduced himself & ensured that our first visit at La Verita would be an experience to remember. The service was top notch, the waiter was charismatic, the ambience was just right & the food was to die for. I would highly reccomend this restaurant & was thoroughly impressed. Did I mention the wine list? Please, go see for yourself!
Had a main course of ravioli stuffed with lobster that was very tasty, with impeccable fresh ingredients & even seasonings. The roaster pepper cream sauce that it was bathed in, was savourish & flavorful.
The main of my wife was a risotto accompanied with some veggies (tomatoes), squash, seasoned by a touch of olive oil & flavored with white wine. There was also some shrimp. From bites of the risotto, I found it to be ideally cooked, nicely unctuous, & above all: succulent.
Our plates had an elegant presentation too.
Service was very attentive, helpful & patient.
Decor: Contemporary, trendy.
IF THEY KEEP UP with what I saw on this dinner (great service, flawless & fresh quality food, beautiful decor), they will rise as one of the top best of this city.
I’ve had the filet mignon with a wide variety on appetizers & have to say that it was succulent!
Fresh food, excellent quality & an executive chef that knows how to cook to perfection!!
Great wine list ... very good scotch (single malt) selection. Finally, the service was impeccable!
Very nice decor. The knowledge & attitude of the service staff was very good. Portions are big & in line with the cost. Nice wine list with reasonable selections. Food was fantastic. The best advise I can give you is that you should give it a try!
Absolutely love this restaurant... In fact, have to say it is definitely my favourite on the West Island. We went there again last night for probably the sixth time & my sister & her beau joined us for the first time. The ambience is warm, trendy & inviting. The service is typically first rate, although a little on the slow side last night but this is unusual.
The food is quite exceptional: Within minutes of being seated they brought a plate of warm Italian style pan bread, sundried tomatoes & black olives.... very nice. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer & again were not disappointed by the quality (prepared just right) nor the portion size which was plenty for 4. My sister's boyfriend ordered the escargot as an appetizer which was served on garlic bread & he claimed was excellent. I am not fond of snails so did not sample. Then we all enjoyed the simple yet delicious house salad which is a mix of greens served with aged balsamic vinegar & olive oil. My husband who has been there more often than I (brings business associates there regularly & hosted his staff Christmas party there) ordered a dish off the menu of seafood pasta with his choice of scallops, shrimp, calarmari & baby clams served on a bed of spaghettini. He thoroughly enjoyed this dish. My sister & her boyfriend both order the Lobster stuffed ravioli which is a house staple, as their menu changes regularly but this favourite always remains. The boyfriend gave it five stars, my sister four. I savoured the fussili pasta with sundried tomatoes, mushrooms & grilled chicken. This dish was divine! Naturally the meal was accompanied by freshly baked bread. Our meals were all reasonably priced.
My only criticism is this... Although they do have a wonderful & extensive wine list & their staff was well versed in suggesting a wine to accompany our meal, the wine list is quite expensive. In fact, we ordered the second least expensive wine for $65 a bottle. Yes, the wine did compliment the meal quite nicely BUT it doesn't compare with the reasonably priced dishes.
Mind you, I prefer to leave this on a positive note, as the cuisine, service, ambience & overall dining experience is well worth a visit!
