We tried this restaurant after a friend told us about it. We ordered to take out and it was delicious. They give you a very generous portion and it's excellent. Next time, we will try their lunch buffet.
We had an excellent dinner at Sahib. We ordered the appetizer sampler which was delicious. We also ordered samosas, which were ok. For the main course, we ordered a variety of dishes to share: chili paneer, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lamb korma, rice and naan bread. Although the tandoori chicken was dry, everything else was wonderful: seasoned and cooked to perfection. The mixture of flavours is always amazing at Sahib. The service was also very good, even though there was a large group celebrating a birthday.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It might seem pricey for Indian food, but the quality is great.
I've been there for their lunch buffet twice in a week as the buffet spread is quite decent. With our favorites like butter chicken, Tandoori chicken and samosa, it was hard to go wrong. However, I was surprised while going through my receipts that I was actually charged differently on these 2 occasions for the same number of people . Their charging method is suspect.
Overall, this is an excellent restaurant. The food is some of the best I've tasted. A little on the pricey side for Indian food however the quality is definitely representative.
the main courses were very good but the samosas tasted frozen good but not great
We were at sahib today after it reopened after renovations and were very dissatisfied with everything. The buffet area has become too crowded. There was atleast 4 items finished from the buffet and no one cared to replenish them. Service was very slow and poor. The staff was moping floors and I actually witnessed one person slipping. The cutlery was missing from the table. The food itself was not upto the mark, it used to be much better before and we loved to go there. Until they improve their service and food, we are not going back there again.
As a fan of indian food and living in the West Island, Sahib has always been the benchmark against which I compare other restaurants. And after many years, none has come close to besting it.
Everytime I go there, the food is fresh and tasty. Prices are good for the quality you get. Staff is polite and they know their menu. However, in some occasion, communication, either in french or english can be difficult. Plates are presented over a lit candle which keeps food hot and make it easy to share.
A minor issue I have is that they publish coupons in various West Island papers and using them is always a pain as they always try to find excuses not to honour them.
I eat regularly and always at lunch. I enjoy the buffet the steady stream of customers makes sure there aren't too many leftover dishes.
You can get in and out in 25 minutes with a full stomach of fresh food although I could not swear this is authentic Indian fare.
The food is always very fresh and tasty, and the prices are very wallet-friendly. The presentation (your dish is served in an individual bowl placed over a lit candle) makes it easy to share. I have been here twice and found that the waiting staff was very helpful, offering suggestions on the menu and warnings about the level of spiciness to those of us less knowledgeable about Indian cuisine. I'm a fan.
Très bon restaurant indien, le buffet du midi est très pratique, bon, avec suffisament de choix de plats. Seul le service laisse à désiré, personnel sympathique et serviable mais unilingue anglais malheureusement.
I've never visited this restaurant as I've always had delivery, but the food here is really good. The prices aren't bad so I have had an assortment of dishes from this restaurant e.g Lamb Vindaloo, Fish Korma, many tandoori dishes and my son who could eat nothing but Butter Chicken swears that Sahib makes the best Butter Chicken.
Tres bonne nourriture indienne.
good consistant indian food in west island. good variety buffet choices.
You may remember I wrote about an over spicy takeout dishes (korma and Biryani) both that are supposed to be mild. The owner was very polite and called us back to address our bad experience with Sahib. The normal chef was not there and the chef that week had been making dishes spicy even the mild ones! He has given us $30 toward our next takeout. Our faith is restored in this great restaurant and we will continue to eat there and order takeouts.

luv luv luv their lunch buffet, best in the west island
I highly recommend!
The food is really extraordinary, the waiters and the owner very friendly. The only issue is that sometimes they take a bit long to serve you.
They will tailor to your tastebuds, meaning you can get something hotter than the original dish.
Unlike other Indian restaurants, the decor is agreeable and helps you relax.
Ate here with some good friends. We found the dishes were hit and miss. Some were very good (moreso the chicken plates), others very average.
We had one beef dish that was overly chewy. The naan bread and lentil soup were above average. The service was ok.
I found it strange that the restaurant closes at 10pm on a Sat. by 9:30 we were the only customers left and we felt some pressure to leave so they could close up. Bottom line, I would dine here again because of the proximity and some top notch choices. Also, relatively inexpensive. Happy Dining!
