Food is great. Honey at the end was such a special touch. The service is amazing: friendly, kind, fast between courses, but you don't feel rushed at all. Would definitely recommend Candide for a great night out with really delicious food.View more

Really really good. A little hard to find but very interesting food & so good. The parsnip in tomato sauce appetizer was incredible. So was the arctic char. But the really killer part was the honey as the final, final course. Paired with a honey wine. Worth the price of admission itself. Highly recommended. Would absolutely go back.View more
Attentive staff, innovative tasting menu, farm to table creations using local ingredients, incredible flavours. Note - Restaurant is difficult to find.....they did say it's at the back of the church. Take the regular roads & don't take the alleyways.View more
I don't understand what's the hype about this restaurant, I paid 300$ for my wife's birthday dinner for lettuce & carrots & a subpar beef dish. The service & the staff was amazing. Please if you think you want a nice restaurant that offers fine dining you can find better places for much less. Or any average restaurant will provide the same food for far lessView more

C'est une cuisine qui se renouvelle constamment & l'envie de revenir aussi. Came here with friends, tried to enjoy it but just had an okay time. This place needs to be booked in advance. However, the menu changes often, so you never know what you are going to get. The menu is just two choices (fish or meat & for dessert either sweet or one-piece of cheese). I was faced with really tough choices as I immediately did not like either choice in our case, Peckerel fish or Guinea fowl. There are NO other options you can order, if not for our friends, I probably would have left before ordering. We had Brussel sprouts as first, & mussels over a bed of yogurt (what a wired combination of ingredients!!) For main course my wife chose Peckerel ( I personally don't like fresh water predator fish) & it was barely eatable with little fish meat & lots of skin fish , I chose guinea fowl (it was stiff like yesterday's reheated chicken). The tasting menu is offered with wine paring ($56) , i asked the waiter what are the wines & she could not recite it from memory, but said that there were 4 glasses of 3 oz each, one of them was a sweet wine & one orange. That sealed a d decion for me not to take parings. We decided to just order wine by glass, although they have quite an extensive wine list. There is only 1 white, 1 red, 1 rose, & 1 bubbly on the list by glass. For dessert, i took cheese (way too salty). I probably should have chosen the sweets. The only dish I really enjoyed was the Brussel sprouts appetizer. On the positive note, all the waiters & chefs were SUPER nice, friendly & accommodating. Not sure i will be back soon. Either I need a more predictable menu choices at the time of booking a few days in advance or more choice besides the tasting menu. Last point ... although set in historical building, the cieling in dining room is low, with full attendance it is hard to hear people even across the table & the noise is amplified by low cieling & close proximity of other diners.View more

Pro tip: Don't be an idiot like me & try going through the front doors. Candide is situated at the back. Facing the front there's a walkway to the left that will lead you to a porch with an outdoor patio with hanging lights. We really appreciated our experience at Candide. From the locally sourced produce & livestock to the every changing menu you have to appreciate their mission to provide the best available options in a sustainable manner. From beginning to end our four course meal provided hit after hit. There were no bad plates & we made sure to clean our plates as best as possible. We were extremely satisfied after our last bite & would definitely consider going back the next time we visit Montreal.View more

This restaurant is astonishingly good. When I see "prix fixe," my expectations immediately go up, & yet, Candide shattered every one of them. Entering the cozy setting, you are greeted & treated warmly & genuinely. The service is attentive & generally outstanding. But even if it wasn't, this would've been a transcendent experience. I'm a touring musician with a love of food, & as such have been lucky enough to eat at some really great places all over the world. But I can say without hesitation that this was one of the best. Each of the dishes, & the wine that paired with them, were flawless. A perfectly considered balance of texture, flavor, richness, sharpness, & portion. Each dish was one of the most delicious versions of that thing I've ever had. & to cap it all off, the price was reasonable. About $100 US per person for four courses with wine pairings. I would have happily paid a lot more for this meal. If you're still reading, JUST GO!!View more
