About

Restaurant Amritsari Kulcha specializes in the preparation of traditional North Indian flatbreads stuffed with spiced potato, paneer, or onion mixtures baked in a clay tandoor. These signature kulchas are served alongside bowls of creamy chole, tangy chutney, and fresh butter to create a robust and authentic culinary experience. The menu also features a variety of steamed or fried dumplings that draw inspiration from broader Asian flavor profiles to provide a diverse selection of appetizers. Expertly spiced masalas and aromatics define the preparation of every dish served within this functional and focused environment. The kitchen prioritizes consistent techniques that highlight the texture of freshly proofed dough and the depth of slow-cooked pulses. This establishment remains a destination for those seeking a concentrated focus on high-quality Indian regional staples and flavorful handmade dough preparations.

Review Summary

Restaurant Amritsari Kulcha is widely celebrated for serving some of the most authentic North Indian and Punjabi cuisine in Montreal. Many visitors frequently highlight the signature Amritsari kulcha as a standout dish, noting its perfect crunch, generous fillings, and traditional flavor profile that rivals experiences found in India. Beyond the kulchas, patrons consistently praise a variety of items including chole bhature, momos, and various sweets, often describing the food as fresh, flavorful, and reminiscent of home. The establishment is frequently recognized for its warm, family-run atmosphere and exceptionally friendly, welcoming hospitality, with staff often providing complimentary samples like gol gappa water or jalebi. While the overwhelming consensus is highly positive, pointing to the restaurant as a must-visit destination for genuine desi flavors, a few individuals noted minor inconsistencies in spice levels or wait times, yet the general sentiment remains that the quality, service, and nostalgic taste make it a top-tier choice for those craving authentic Indian comfort food.

We came to Montreal from the U.S. for a weekend getaway, & one thing was non-negotiable on our agenda-finding really good Indian food. After seeing this place highly recommended on social media, we decided to give it a try, & I'm so glad we did.

It's a small, unassuming spot, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with heart. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. It's a family-run restaurant, & every single person made an effort to stop by our table & make sure everything was perfect. That kind of hospitality is rare & so appreciated.

We were greeted with a welcome drink, & honestly, I could have happily drunk an entire glass of the gol gappa water they served. It was that good.

The star of the meal was undoubtedly the Amritsari kulcha. One bite & I was transported straight back to the streets of Amritsar. Easily some of the best kulchas I've had outside of India. They were perfectly seasoned, not overloaded with spices, & had just the right amount of crunch. The channa that came alongside was excellent, & the imli & onion chutney was such a nostalgic touch. It's something I've only ever seen served properly in Amritsar, never here in North America.

We also ordered the chole bhature, & I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chole was prepared differently from the one served with the kulchas. Most places use the exact same preparation for both dishes, but not here. The bhature were light, fluffy, & not greasy at all.

The veg momos were another standout-thin wrappers, generous filling, & cooked perfectly. Simple, fresh, & delicious.

The paneer tikka was equally impressive. Soft, tender paneer marinated the traditional way & seasoned beautifully. One thing we noticed throughout the meal was that nothing was overly spicy or loaded with unnecessary seasoning. The flavours felt balanced & authentic, allowing each dish to shine on its own.

The food here doesn't just fill your stomach-it takes you back home. We loved it so much that before heading back to the U.S., we came back the very next day for lunch.

This place satisfied both our heart & our soul. If you're in Montreal & craving authentic Amritsari food made with care, this is an absolute must-visit.

Food is okay but customer service is way bad. They just greedy kind of people we ordered one full plate & half plate & then we ordered another plate which we asked to cancel but they said they cant cancel it once ordered even they have other customers waiting for that kulcha. They behave more like car sales person & one more thing they charged extra for toping up of extra chanas

One of the best chole bhature in Montreal. Also tasted Tandoori momos & they were also very good. They gave complimentary gol-gappe paani which was amazing & also gave jalebi for tasting which was also very tasty. Must visit!!

You should be aware they have only three tables. We went there from ottawa & Did not get the seat. The waitress showed no interest in accommodating us. They didn't even say how long it would be before we get seated.

Visited this restaurant today with 4 friends & had an amazing experience! We tried the Amritsari Kulcha, Channa Bhatura, & Paneer Kulcha - everything was fresh, authentic, & absolutely delicious. The owner is a very kind & humble person. Even though we arrived close to closing time, he still welcomed us warmly & served us with great hospitality. He even gave us some complimentary treats, which made the experience even more special. Great food, generous service, & a very welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for Punjabi food lovers!
