Restaurant Patate Rouge on Crémazie East is always open for early birds, diners can enjoy a great meal for a great price. Patate Rouge offers many specials, you'll find some of the lowest prices in Montreal.
Patate Rouge is described as a reliable casual spot where poutine, especially the sauce and fries, is consistently praised and many call it the best in Montreal; the menu also features submarine sandwiches and hot dogs that pair well with generous portions of fries. The quality of ingredients and freshness come up repeatedly, with clean surroundings, fast service, and friendly staff contributing to a welcoming vibe, though a few reviews note moments of less warmth at the counter. The restaurant is seen as a nostalgic neighborhood staple, popular for takeout or quick meals, and a few mention weekly specials that add variety. Vegetarian options are limited, but a meatless submarine can still be delicious with poutine, and some diners love the smoked meat poutine in particular. Prices can feel a bit high for some, and there are occasional complaints about extra charges for cheese or inconsistent sauce coverage on the poutine. Overall, Patate Rouge is regarded as a top choice for a hearty, fast meal with standout poutine and dependable, efficient service, making it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike.
Since my college days in 2001, I've been a loyal patron of this establishment. The owner, a dedicated & hardworking individual, has transformed this place into a resounding success. Now, people from beyond the neighborhood travel from far & wide to savor the delectable offerings. While everything on the menu is a mouth-watering delight, I've found that since relocating to Ontario, I haven't encountered submarines or steamies quite like those in Quebec, especially not like the ones at La Patate Rouge. I simply adore this place-the owner, the staff, & of course, the food!
