Review Summary

Mont-Istanbul is widely regarded as a standout destination for authentic Turkish cuisine in the city, consistently praised for its generous portions, high-quality ingredients, and fresh, flavorful meats. Many visitors highlight the homemade bread and the exceptional doner sandwiches as particular favorites, frequently noting the excellent value for money. While the majority of guests describe the service as friendly, welcoming, and attentive, the overall atmosphere is often characterized as a simple yet comfortable family-owned environment. Although there are rare mentions of inconsistent food quality or slower service during peak times, the overwhelming consensus points to a highly recommended spot that balances delicious, well-prepared meals with a warm, hospitable experience.

The food was lovely, but I wanted to leave this review to warn of the many gray cross spiders (larinioides sclopetarius) out front. They are mainly out of the way of the seating area, but I noticed some under tables & some of their (beautiful!) webs were placed in areas where they might accidentally be disturbed. These spiders are not aggressive, & usually only bite if their web is threatened. Their venom is toxic, but rarely serious (pain/reactions range between a mosquito bite to a bee sting). If you choose to sit outdoors, please take care to make sure you are not disturbing them/destroying their webs. Sitting away from the light of the sign/window is a safe bet since this species strategically place their reflective webs near lights to attract prey. They are harmless as long as you don't go out of your way to provoke them. 🙂
