Monsieur B offers a charming and intimate bistro experience in the heart of the Plateau, frequently noted for its welcoming atmosphere and cozy, golden lighting. Many guests appreciate the opportunity to bring their own wine, pairing it with a variety of generous and flavorful dishes such as duck confit, beef tartare, and cod fritters. While experiences regarding service pacing and consistency can vary, the tasting menu is often highlighted as an excellent value. Dedicated hospitality remains a recurring theme, making this neighborhood spot a frequent destination for those seeking a relaxed and authentic dining environment.

Local favourite in the Plateau, close to St. Denis street. Bring your own wine (or a nice beer from the local dépanneur). We enjoyed the friendly professional service & the chef's menu, including a goat cheese salad, summery gazpacho, & main courses of a flavourful tartare dish & a perfectly grilled steak, both with fries & salad. Superb meal & evening from start to finish. Great value & ambiance.

Came here last Friday evening after a long shoot downtown & honestly could not have picked a better spot to wind down. The duck confit was perfectly balanced, rich but not heavy, & paired beautifully with whatever house red our server recommended without hesitation. The lighting inside is that warm, golden kind that makes every table look like it belongs in a magazine, which was honestly a little distracting for someone trying to put the camera away for the night. Service was attentive without being overbearing, & I already have a reservation booked for next month.

I agree with many other commentators about mismatched expectations. The photos & presentation on the website do not match the at the table experience at all. The website gives the impression of fine dining with interesting presentation & thoughtful dishes. The prices are reflective of that, the food, atmosphere & service is must closer to a low-end bistro.

There were a number of mistakes with the service: mis-timed courses (1/2 the table would be looking at their food for ten minutes waiting for the rest of the table's food to arrive), dirty flatware & dirty black finger prints on the rim of our plates (as though our server had something on his hands).

Similarly, the food was uninspired, often bland & poorly prepared (under seasoned & incorrectly prepared steaks, brown lettuce). Two exceptions were the salads which were a good mixture of greens with a creamy but tart dressing & the delicious accras de morue.

At the price, there are much, much better choices in Montreal.
