Friendly and efficient service. The food was just amazing, just enough heat. I had the jerk chicken which came with rice and beans, fried plantain, sweet potato. My dinner companion has the salt fish and ackee with the same side dishes. We were tempted by the mango ice cream and were not disappointed. Looking forward to our next visit to try other dishes offered on the menu.
Great goat roti (not dry, nicely cooked, great taste).
They don't take any chance with the spicing and play it safe -> so, no worries about hot spices here.
It's a honest and pretty nice cuisine (nothing fancy, and yet savourish and enoughly refined). It's a cute cosy place, clean with a nice little bar.
Service is slow, but professional/courteous.
The atmosphere is very cozy, the employees are extremely friendly, the food is served in small quantities and the prices are rather high. i would recommend this place for drinks and appetizers but not main dishes.
The ambience was nice, although sitting by the window was a bad choice, pretty cold.
The food was better then a 2, but I have to give penalty for such small portions and high prices.
Quality over quantity I'm sure, but at the prices your charging, at least fill us up.
I can tell there is about 4 dollars worth of food on my plate, and thats if I bought it myself, a restaurateur obviously gets it cheaper.
The mango cheesecake was delicious, but I'd of like more of a mango kick to it.
Jerk chicken tasted fantastic, but I should of asked for it to be extra spicy, considering I didn't even break a sweat!
Food absolutely delicious ! Their drinks even better ! Small, quaint, very friendly.
Everything is prepared fresh just for you .... it's worth the wait.
I strongly recommend it !
Ok, so I went to Montreal this weekend to celebrate my 24th Birthday. I took "Nick's" advice and decided to try the island chicken fajitas as I diligently researched this website to decide where to eat before I got to Montreal. I must say, my boyfriend ordered the jerk chicken and there was NO comparison. The Island fajita was OK- but 2 things were problematic with it. 1) You can't pick it up and eat it like a wrap-like the name "fajita" should indicate. It is covered in sauce and cheese so you have to use utensils. 2) I cut into a piece, put it into my mouth, and I kid you not, was surprised by a mouth full of bones! I didn't dare take another bite. I was turned off completely from that moment on. I only had the white rice and veggies & the plantains were OK-too thickly sliced for my liking. But I had some of my boyfriends jerk chicken and felt terrible that I didn't order it. My gut said I should have ordered that in the first place but I went for the fajita and it was a big mistake. So if you are debating which of those two to get-- pick the jerk chicken! You will NOT be disapointed. The Barris music on the TV was great and the tropical fish really made the atmosphere seem caribbean-like. If I had ordered the jerk chicken there would be no complaining here whatsoever. The waitress was nice and her helper was super keen on providing great service. Great place, great atmosphere, great food--just look out for stray bones! Also, try the 4 fish cakes as an appetizer! They are fabulous. They taste like conch fritters (for those of you who have been to the bahamas and know what I'm talking about). Yummy! In addition, try the tequila sunset to drink... faboo!
I've been twice and the food was amazing both times. The Ackee and Salt Fish dish is really good. The jerk chicken and the mango chicken too. The dishes come with sides and the peas and rice is delicious as is the vegetables and plantains.
There's a hot sauce that is amazing and actually, all the sauces are homemade and delicious.
The music is always good, if you like relaxing island styles and the ambiance is really comfortable with everything soothingly orange and good quality table clothes. The service was excellent both times and the waitresses are really interesting.
Try to save room for dessert because they're homemade too and to-die-for, especially the rum and raisin ice cream....mmmmmm.
I can't wait to go back!
Food was amazing, I had the Jerk Chicken which was great but what was better were the Island style chicken fajitas which my girlfriend had.
Cozy little place with candles and dim lighting which gave it a homey feel. They placed reggae music which completed the experience. The food is worth the price and though service was slow it wasn't a big deal since the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was great.
The food at Mango Bay was delicious. The daiquiris were really good too and the music was great. The service was friendly and perfect. I highly recommend stopping in.
