The place is quite small & the tables are really close to each other, which means you can’t have a lot of privacy talking to your friends when the restaurant is full. Though the atmosphere was really cozy, the walls were painted in orange & warm yellow which reminded me of a sunset. There were also beautiful paintings of Caribbean scenes on the walls.

I had beef patties as appetizers, they were delicious but the portion is quite big for one person. They were crunchy, the beef was tasty & a little bit spicy & the sweet & spicy sauce that came with it was really good. We were a group of 8 persons & four of us ordered the patties & the wait was really long. We waited about thirty minutes before we got the appetizers.

I ordered the Negril chicken. It was a chicken breast in slices marinated in a very sweet sauce with hot spices. The chicken was sure tasty! It came with a quite small slice of sweet potato, three pieces of fried banana plantain & a bowl of rice & peas. The sweet potato wasn’t much tasty but the fried plantains were delicious. They were crunchy on the outside & soft in the inside. Everything was really well cooked though I would have like to have more sweet potatoes than only one slice. The presentation of the plate was a little bit disappointing because of its simplicity, it looked like not much efforts have been put in it. Even though it was too simple, the plate was very colourful with the brown-red sauce, the yellow plantains, the orange potato & the light brown rice.

I enjoyed my overall experience, Caribbean cuisine is definitely worth the try especially at Mango Bay because of its good quality food & affordable prices.

Friendly & efficient service. The food was just amazing, just enough heat. I had the jerk chicken which came with rice & beans, fried plantain, sweet potato. My dinner companion has the salt fish & ackee with the same side dishes. We were tempted by the mango ice cream & were not disappointed. Looking forward to our next visit to try other dishes offered on the menu.

Ok, so I went to Montreal this weekend to celebrate my 24th Birthday. I took "Nick's" advice & decided to try the island chicken fajitas as I diligently researched this website to decide where to eat before I got to Montreal. I must say, my boyfriend ordered the jerk chicken & there was NO comparison. The Island fajita was OK- but 2 things were problematic with it. 1) You can't pick it up & eat it like a wrap-like the name "fajita" should indicate. It is covered in sauce & cheese so you have to use utensils. 2) I cut into a piece, put it into my mouth, & I kid you not, was surprised by a mouth full of bones! I didn't dare take another bite. I was turned off completely from that moment on. I only had the white rice & veggies & the plantains were OK-too thickly sliced for my liking. But I had some of my boyfriends jerk chicken & felt terrible that I didn't order it. My gut said I should have ordered that in the first place but I went for the fajita & it was a big mistake. So if you are debating which of those two to get-- pick the jerk chicken! You will NOT be disapointed. The Barris music on the TV was great & the tropical fish really made the atmosphere seem caribbean-like. If I had ordered the jerk chicken there would be no complaining here whatsoever. The waitress was nice & her helper was super keen on providing great service. Great place, great atmosphere, great food--just look out for stray bones! Also, try the 4 fish cakes as an appetizer! They are fabulous. They taste like conch fritters (for those of you who have been to the bahamas & know what I'm talking about). Yummy! In addition, try the tequila sunset to drink... faboo!

I've been twice & the food was amazing both times. The Ackee & Salt Fish dish is really good. The jerk chicken & the mango chicken too. The dishes come with sides & the peas & rice is delicious as is the vegetables & plantains.

There's a hot sauce that is amazing & actually, all the sauces are homemade & delicious.

The music is always good, if you like relaxing island styles & the ambiance is really comfortable with everything soothingly orange & good quality table clothes. The service was excellent both times & the waitresses are really interesting.

Try to save room for dessert because they're homemade too & to-die-for, especially the rum & raisin ice cream....mmmmmm.

I can't wait to go back!
