The tender, flavorful jerk chicken adds a bold kick to the salad, creating a delicious fusion of Caribbean & salad flavors. I drive 45 min each time to go pick it up .. worth every minute ..View more
The food was excellent. We loved every bit of our oxail dishView more
So happy I found this place. Its hard to get into. You have to walk in the door go up a stair case then go into one of the rooms on the upper floor. For being the only carribean restaurant downtown it's damn good. The oxtail & jerk chicken were great. Roti skin was like I was back in the islands. My only wish is that it wasn't takeout only. I wish they would open up the dining area again. Somet times I walk in & wonder if it's closed since no one's in the front.. Also have fun with the staff it's one of the few places we're the guy hits the 18% tip before giving you the machine 😂View more
The food was excellent! I definitely recommend this place if you are in Montreal & want authentic Jamaican cuisine.View more
We went yesterday evening with a couple of friends for a birthday. The experience was not very good : drinking water had a bad taste (seems like very old water left in the fridge for many days), the service was very very long, even though food was good but not excellent. Unfortunately we won't come back there.
Our group of 6 enjoyed a great meal with great service at Mango Bay before heading to the Jimmy Buffett concert.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious & service was great ! It never disappoints.
Great restaurant! The food is simply delicious! Must try: goat curry & oxtail dish for main dish & mango ice cream for dessert - yummy! The ambiance is great, not crowded & quite cheerful. I absolutely recommend this resto!
Ce restaurant n'est pas completement authentique cuisine de la jamaique & des caraibes, il est un peu americanise, cependant c'est tres tres bon il fait bien parti de mes favori!!
The service was pretty quick, considering that when I went with 3 friends on a Wednesday evening there was only one waitress & a good number of other tables. She got us our drinks fast & was very pleasant. As for the food, forget it. I take trips to Jamaica at least once a year & I have never seen a chicken breast anywhere near jerk chicken. The jerk tastes like the chicken & the jerk sauce were sloshed together at the last minute. A friend of mine had the mango chicken, which was positively overdone & awful. My sweet potato was somehow cold right off the bat & my other friend couldn't believe how small her plate of king fish was. The oxtail & curry goat are the same price. Either this place is joking or trying to snake out every last dollar from unknowing downtown tourists. Avoid unless you want to spend money for no good reason.
Small place, less space between tables, service slightly slow. Colorful decor, good food... So enjoyable.
The place is quite small & the tables are really close to each other, which means you can’t have a lot of privacy talking to your friends when the restaurant is full. Though the atmosphere was really cozy, the walls were painted in orange & warm yellow which reminded me of a sunset. There were also beautiful paintings of Caribbean scenes on the walls.
I had beef patties as appetizers, they were delicious but the portion is quite big for one person. They were crunchy, the beef was tasty & a little bit spicy & the sweet & spicy sauce that came with it was really good. We were a group of 8 persons & four of us ordered the patties & the wait was really long. We waited about thirty minutes before we got the appetizers.
I ordered the Negril chicken. It was a chicken breast in slices marinated in a very sweet sauce with hot spices. The chicken was sure tasty! It came with a quite small slice of sweet potato, three pieces of fried banana plantain & a bowl of rice & peas. The sweet potato wasn’t much tasty but the fried plantains were delicious. They were crunchy on the outside & soft in the inside. Everything was really well cooked though I would have like to have more sweet potatoes than only one slice. The presentation of the plate was a little bit disappointing because of its simplicity, it looked like not much efforts have been put in it. Even though it was too simple, the plate was very colourful with the brown-red sauce, the yellow plantains, the orange potato & the light brown rice.
I enjoyed my overall experience, Caribbean cuisine is definitely worth the try especially at Mango Bay because of its good quality food & affordable prices.
Very casual restaurant. Chairs were old uncomfortable & cheap. Not a great place if you want to impress anyone. But food & service was good. Nothing special but if you like jamacian spice & sauces it could be worth a try.
