All the sushi & sashimi we ordered tasted fresh & delicious, especially the torched salmon, tuna, & eel. Nice decor, & pleeeeenty of choices during dinner service. It does get very crowded in here & certain things such as skewers can take quite a bit of time, & it can get quite expensive, but it's still good for some occasions. Also, looks like it's the same owner as K2+ bistro.

This restaurant is so fun!! & the sushi is quite good, definitely recommend the torched salmon nigiri & the short rib. If you like anime you won't run out of stuff to look at.
The decor is stunning. The walls filled with posters & the ceiling covered with japanese umbrellas. It's like a different world, an amazing immersion into the world of anime. There are also a ton of figurines of many different characters. There was also a wide variety of foods, from ramen to sushi to grilled meats & fried foods. The quality of the fish & meat are quite good. I enjoyed the blow-torched nigiri as well as the maki rolls. Would definitely recommend to any anime fans!
A must go for anime fans! The walls are littered with different anime posters, figurines & manga. The food was excellent, everything we had was tasty & came out of the kitchen quickly. I highly recommend the torched sushi & beef skewers. Service was top notch considering the volume of the restaurant.
First of all, the restaurant name can be a little misleading. It's "Manga Bistro Sushi" but it has absolutely nothing to do with Mangas, nothing. Yes, in Japan they do have Manga Cafe where you dine & read mangas there, this place is not it. It's just a regular sushi buffet restaurant covered in anime wallpapers & figurines, that's it. I will give them the credits that the interior decoration looks amazing but that's as far as it goes. Now let's talk about the food itself. Let's just keep it simple, does it have more variety of sushi compared to other similar places down the street, not really. Does it taste better than others, not at all. The selling point is the decoration, that's really it. Although the price is higher than others. There are some sushi/rolls you can clearly tell that they are using old rice as it is super dry, stiff & easily fall apart. This is a bonus since it might not apply to a lot of people, but also a warning. For customers who happen to enjoy torched Nigiri. It is no secrets that this place is all about presentations. When they serve you torched Nigiri, they torch it in front of you, on your table. I don't know which genius thought this was a good idea, as you may have personal belongings that can be damaged accidentally if left on the table. Perhaps, eventually light someone on fire, then sued to oblivion. Not to mention that there are flammable materials on the table like napkins. A small accident or some silly kids being rough are all it takes to start the Billy Joel song. If this practice does not change, it is only a matter of time. I would recommend you to tell the waiters to torch it properly where it is safe. The funny thing is that the chefs already torch it slightly in the back, then waiters torch it again right in front of you for presentations. You might think that I am being paranoid but the reason why this section is so big is because they accidentally lit my table on fire & made a mess with water trying to extinguish it. Lastly, the service isn't bad at all. I really like the fact that you can just order it on the tablet assigned to each table. The serving time is relatively fast. In conclusion, if you live outside of Montreal & here for the weekend, then sure try it because why not, the visual is somewhat spectacular. But if you want to get your money worth, then this isn't the place for you for sure. It is one of those places that you go once for the experience & take pictures then never return again.

Obviously a great place for anime lovers. My friend & I spontaneously decided to try the place on a Friday evening - huge mistake 😭 I've never in my life waited so long to be seated & was quite hangry when we finally got a table. Once seated though, the service was quick & excellent. The food is comparable to other ayce sushi places, nice & fresh. Their unique menu item would be their torched sushi which were good. We were also given frozen treats at the end of the meal which was nice! Nice for a one-time experience - I think the owners also run K2 & Taiyo here in mtl if you're not necessarily into anime.
I give 2 stars cause the place is amazing, very cool, the service fast, kind & accurate, but the food I can say on my experience one of the worse I ever ate. The uramaki don't taste of anything, unless they're spicy or torched. It's not worth the price. Sorry about that.
Booked a reservation to Manga Bistro two days in advance for a get-together with friends on a Friday evening (ballsy choice indeed). With MTL traffic & the downtown parking situation as it is, we thought it'd be best to head to the restaurant early. My group arrives 15 minutes before our reservation & we see the huge lineup outside. We pass the line to see if we could get our table ahead of time. The server suggested we wait in line outside & that they would call out to us. We waited 10 minutes in line, watching people at the front of the line enter in before us. Were they walk-ins or others with a reservation? Who knows. It took a phone call during the 10 minutes to get a table. I understand, the ambiance & the look/hype of an new anime themed AYCE sushi restaurant is super appealing, so of course, it's a given that people are lining up to eat at the establishment & to take their time to be served. But what is the point of making a reservation if you have to wait outside for 25 minutes? & no, the restaurant is not a large space, there are booths, but most tables seat 2 or 4 people, so the spacing between tables is fairly cramped if you are a group of 5. The service inside the restaurant was good. Servers were able to deliver & quickly clean up dishes during the night. The food items ordered via provided tablet were all given to us, with some minor exceptions of delivering a wrong order or changing the sushi format of an order (i.e. ordering maki but getting a hand roll version instead). I would agree with other reviews that the AYCE sushi quality is pretty standard & that dishes do come out lukewarm or cooler than expected. Items I thought are worth ordering are Saumon Sashimi, Beef Ribs, Grilled Spicy Mussles & Saumon Teriyaki. Items I thought to avoid are the Garlic Shrimp Skewers, Herring & Roe Sashimi & General Tao Maki. One item that received mixed reviews at my table was the grilled scallop. The grilled scallop is covered with cheese baked on top of it. The cheese does give it a creamy texture but the taste of American cheese overwhelms the scallop. Although torched sushi was greatly advertised on social media, I don't know if the torching method was worth it. I saw that a server would come by to do side table service & torch the nigiri at your table. That did not happen for my group & I don't know if it's something that is a client request. In addition, it is true that your plate of food does come with a small anime gatcha figure or a printed sticker of an anime character on a toothpick. What was not clear was whether we could keep all these decorations as a souvenir of our night... The restaurant does not serve alcohol but does offer canned sodas, including Coke, Ginger Ale, Iced Tea & Diet Coke. In term of dessert, there are options for fried foods (fried oreo, fried bananas, fried pineapple & fried bread). Ice cream flavours offered are chocolate & neopolitan. In short, go if you really want to take in the ambiance. As for me, one time is enough.
