Review Summary

L'Arepa Express receives mixed feedback, with many patrons praising the authentic flavors, generous portions, and friendly service that evoke a genuine sense of Colombia. While numerous customers highly recommend the arepas, power bowls, and empanadas for their quality and value, some diners have reported inconsistencies, including issues with over-salting, undercooked ingredients, and occasional lapses in service or long wait times. While many enjoy the street food experience, a few negative accounts highlight concerns regarding the temperature of sauces and a decline in quality for certain dishes compared to previous visits, suggesting that the overall experience can vary depending on the day or specific menu item chosen.

I'm sorry to write this, as the main restaurant has long been one of my favorites-even my choice for birthdays. A friend of mine had recently mentioned that their quality had declined, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Having been there many times, I've always wanted to try the criollo bowl, which is similar to the'pabellón.' Today I finally ordered it, & what a disappointment. The beans tasted like canned beans instead of the regular black beans served at the main restaurant, & it didn't come with a lot of beans or cheese on top like in the restaurant. About 80% of the dish was just rice, & about half of the supposed highlight-the shredded beef-came as a large lump that wasn't even shredded. It seemed more like a greasy piece of beef skin than proper meat. I don't like returning food, so I ate what I could & threw away the rest (including the lump of beef). I truly hope the quality improves, because I've always enjoyed the main restaurant in the past.

Terrible! They were part of Les Premiers Vendredis summer food truck edition & it was the worst experience I've had with a restaurant in a long time.

They were fast - I'll give them that. But I was craving a little something, so I figured, why not try the Latin poutine?

It was just okay, but the sauce was ice cold, making it barely edible. I brought it up politely, but they made me feel bad for even mentioning it. Still, they gave me a second one… & it was even worse.

It was honestly disgusting - we didn't eat it. There were maybe five fries, no cheese, barely any meat, & it was drowned in cold sauce. The sauce felt like chilled oil.

We paid $10 total for that poutine & even tipped $3, only to receive the worst, tiniest poutine imaginable. Looking back, we should've just kept the first one, because the second one tasted like hate in a cup.

Serving a cold poutine in Québec should be unacceptable.
