I had my daughter's Baptism at La Serenata and I cant be happier. The food was delicious and my guest were so impressed. The staff were friendly and very helpful but the owner/chef really went out of his way to make to make sure everything was perfect. Thank you La Serenata for making my daughters baptism so special & memorable.
I attended a Baptism organized at this restaurant and was expecting great Italian food, especially after reading the positive reviews. Unfortunately the food did not live up to standard. Such blatant lack of quality in basic dishes. The food did not taste fresh and was loaded with salt! The portions were so small that most guests were still hungry after the meal. Thank god the organizers of the event provided a generous sweet table! I don't know if this was an off night for the restaurant but it surely was not impressive.
Organized an event at La Serenata and was very disappointed at the quality of the food. Other reviews rate the restaurant well but it seems they serve lower grade food for events. The dishes presented do not resemble the photos posted on their web site. Portions were too small, focaccia bread was actually little slices of salted pita bread, the potatoes tasted as if they were from a frozen dinner, the veal was loaded with salt, the beef was absolutely disgusting. Overall nothing was authentic Italian. Maybe the regular cook called in sick on this particular day. Very embarassed that my guests were served this food!
Beautiful restaurant, very authentic Italian cuisine. Tops!
Beautiful, elegant ambiance. Went for lunch, excellent service and the food delicious. Will return for dinner!
A hidden gem. A quiet restaurant with great food, wine and service. I highly recommend it!
We had our colleague's 70th birthday celebration at La Serenata. From Angelo's easy accommodation to Danny's exceptional service and the amazing food, I have to give this place a 10 out of 10. Special request were respected and everyone left impressed and delighted. Thank you Angelo, Danny and all the staff for making yet another event so memorable. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for a venue.
Thank you Angelo and the entire La Serrenata team for a wonderful evening. Our team had supper there the other night and although Angelo was on a well-deserved vacation, we were treated like royalty. One dish was better than the next. It is by far my favorite Italian restaurant on the (and off) the Island of Montreal.
If you have not yet experienced this little hidden gem then I strongly suggest you bring your loved ones and enjoy a delicious meal in their very relaxing and beautiful surroundings.
Two years ago (February 2016) we hosted my daughter's bridal shower here - EVERYONE was in awe of the service and mouth watering meals; have continued to go back at least once very month or so. Thank you Angelo and your dynamic team for always making us feel at home.
Best italian restaurant in the West Island, bar none. We were a party of 25 and service was excellent. Food was amazing. Entire party enjoyed their experience. Great value for the money.
Entire staff were very professional. I would definitely go back.
I was pleasantly surprised with my entire experience. Clean restaurant, including bathrooms. We were a party of 38 and the service was impeccable considering the restaurant was at capacity and the Food was above my expectations.
Must try the mussel beginning course, plump and juicy mussels with a delightful light sauce.
I had the grouper fillet and it was cooked to perfection and served at the right temperature.
Thank you Chef Angelo and staff.
A hidden gem in the West Island! This is my favourite place to eat pasta, and I love that they have whole wheat alternatives. The fried zucchini as an appetizer are just perfect: not too greasy and just seasoned enough. My dad had fish, which was delicious and moist. I find the menu to be uncluttered and of quality. And do leave room for dessert: I was eyeing the orange sorbet (served in an actual orange) but they were out :( so I had the homemade tiramisu.
The waiters are very helpful with their suggestions, although service tends to be slow on nights when they have large parties - which seems to be every weekend, so make sure you make a reservation. Since this is a pretty small restaurant, the downside of this is you will often be seated next to a large, noisy party with a lot of kids running around. Its not that bad, though - the atmosphere is very festive that way, and there are a few musicians who might come to your table and encourage you to sing/dance along as they serenade you to old French and Italian songs. They even do requests!
I read the reviews and can't believe people find that it's a pricy place ,obviously if you want fastfood prices for quality food, than
there is many cafeteria style restaurants in West Island, where you get what you pay for. I have been a client for over 14 years and find that if the food, service, ad price point is inline with the quality of food being served by Chef Anegelo. I have used their services for
parties and catering needs throughout the years and have yet to be let down on quality of food and service.
Keep up the good work will be in soon.
A decouvrir , excellent service et nourriture , ne vous fier pas a l exterieur .
My husband and I wanted to find a nice local restaurant for our 25th and we chose La Seranata. My husband and I are vegetarians ever since my husband's cardiologist told him after his heart attack at 35 that he needed to make drastic changes if he wanted to remain healthy. We love Italian restaurants because of the amazing heart friendly meditarranean traditions. They have so much choice given the amazing variety of fruits, vegetables, seeds, legumes, grains etc that Italy has to offer and their amazing history of mediteranean cooking! Generally, for special occasions, we call to a few finer restaurants and ask if the chef can make us a special menu and we are never disappointed with Italian chefs!
Our plans this year were a bit last minute so we decided to simply shop around and find a good local restaurant to eat at. After viewing a few Italian restaurants in the West Island we chose this one because there appeared to be more overal selections.
The service was impeccable and we were very well taken care of.
However I found the food uninspired and it appeared that in the absence of animal fats (meat, cream sauces etc) they did not quite know how to live up to the Italian culinary excellence we have come to expect. The meatless items were overpriced given that they were given no more importance and preparation consideration that one would give a side dish. It was clear that this Italian restaurant relies very heavily on the centre of the plate concept of needing a slab of meat or a corpuous amount of oil/fat to make a meal a meal.
My endive salad was pricy given the state of the endive (although the balsamic dressing was gorgeous!) and my gnocchi did not blow my doors off. My husband's soup was not really coming off as a fresh soup but rather a salty version of a good quality canned soup. My husband took the risotto which again, he found salty and not very flavourful.
We had a nice evening overall but we won't be going back.
Great food and excellent service. The menu is varied with a good choice reasonably priced. There is live entertianment on Saturdays which is a fun way to spend the night. Lunch is alo a good bet. Try it you will like it, I do!
The food was delicious in both presentation and taste, the service was polite courteous and professional. My girlfriend and I both felt comfortable upon entering the restaurant. All in all a beautiful evening thanks to Serenata.
The poached mussels in their homemade mayonnaise sauce was simply to die for and the tuna was the best I have ever had.
Admittedly it's not the restaurant for the tightly budgeted, however you get what you pay for. I agree with the person who mentioned earlier that they would go more often if the bill wasn't so painful..... ahh I'll go back anyway... lol.
