The service was great, the food was delicious & made with quality ingredients, & the ambiance is warm & features an elegant Mexican-style decor. It's a perfect place for casual meals, cocktails & appetizers, or fun evenings out. I recommend Guaca & Mole.
We had a terrific dinner! Nachos were huge, drinks were delicious!
The ceviche was fresh & full of seafood. The tuna tacos with jicama were pretty & tasty!
The Mexican birder was so big it came home in a take away box & the steak quesadillas were a hit.
We were there early & our serivce was outstanding, from the hostess to our waiter to the manager ( owner? ) who presented the tortilla soup with flourish!
It had been a. Few years since we had been to the restaurant & we will be back again soon.
Good service. Nice ambiance. Food okay but for sure no authentic mexican taste there.
This is the most amazing Mexican restaurant this side of the border! Gives me sensations of being on vacation in Florida or Southern California for great food of this style! & the cocktails are awesome!
Highly recommend it!
Been there many times. Drinks great as is the food & service. This is good Mexican not Tex-Mex.
Great food, fun drinks. Waiter was attentive & helpful. Highly recommend! The experience would have bern even better with background Mexican music- they usually do apparently, but something was "off" while we were there (a Sunday evening)
Excellent Mexican restaurant, shaken lime margaritas, queso fundido with chorizo, fajitas chicken & shrimps, & very good service!
Really good & close to authentic Mexican food.
Great Mexican restaurant with excellent food & wonderful portions! Also some of the most awesome drinks anywhere! Glad we were able to finally enjoy one of our favourite eating spots!
Mediocre, but fine Mexican restaurant. Good family value dining. We raised an issue privately with the manager regarding the hygiene of one of his staff & will allow him to respond before posting publicly.
Great service, excellent food, really different & trendy decor! Great new hot spot for west island, we needed a great Mexican resto like this!
Good taste but.... tortilla soup without tortilla? & chicken tacos on flour tortilla? Isn't mexican food....so sorry....a lot of mistake in the same dinner...
Food is delicious. Only a few vegetarian options but still good. I went with my family (we are Mexican) & we truly enjoyed the food.
I was there at 8:30 & waited 10 minutes at the bar which was ok since the place was so busy. My girlfriend had the salmon I had the steak fajitas & the other couple had the ceviche salad & the lamb shank. The food was to die for. The drinks especially the margaritas were amazing. Finally a Mexican resto that uses real lime. It is rare that we find such good Mexican food in the west.
The service was perfect & we had no complaints. They were busy but always kept a smile which is what I look for in service. We were even offered a tequila digestif. I am going to make this place a weekly visit!
Sorry guys, but did not enjoy myself. I have been here twice & both times the service was extremely slow.
Guacamole tasted over-ripened, & I just could not eat it.
Too bad as we are missing a good mexican resto in the west island.
Amazing!!! I was going to another restaurant for dinner with my friend when pulling in to the parking I saw this restaurant & being a mexican food lover asked my friend if she minded going here instead! So very happy that she accepted the change! OMG the food was great, the drinks were delicious & the atmosphere was fun & it was very reasonably priced! I will definitely be going back!!! It's on my fave list !!!!
Since the first time I went, which was the first week the restaurant's opening, a lot of has changed for the better. The negative reviews listed below were strongly considered, but they were grossly out of proportion in my opinion. Focusing on the present, the interior of the restaurant is quite Mexican look-wise with Mexican music playing also. Even if one does not like Mexican food, there are a lot of good options. The waiters are friendly & have the needed knowledge to explain to the clients what each dish on the menu is & how each tastes. I also read down below that people were not satisfied with the portion. Well, at every restaurant, one should always ask how big the portion is & order accordingly. In my mind, the portions are in proportion to its price. My favorite is not only their Enchilladas & Mole Chicken, but also their desserts. Delicious Churros & Cheese cakes! Mmmm, mmmm, good!
For us it was a disappointing experience all around. For starters, the service left a lot to be desired. My dad & I ordered the tortilla soup for an entree. It wasn't bad. Then we ordered 2 orders of fajitas. We waited almost 40 minutes for the food to come, then when it finally came, they brought us only 4 wraps. We told the waiter we needed more since this was not enough for 3 people having 2 orders of fajitas, & besides, they were so tiny you could barely get a piece of chicken on it, so you need a lot. He said he would get us more. Then he vanished. We had to ask 2 other employees 2 more times to get more tortilla wraps before the food would start getting cold. As for the food itself, the chicken was dry, the wraps too small, the guacamole was tasteless.Perhaps we should have ordered a different dish, but we were told that the fajitas there were amazing. Well, I have eaten way better fajitas at Moe's, & that's not even a Mexican restaurant. As for the atmosphere, it was way too noisy. I understand it has only been open for 7 weeks, & I hope things improve. If it stays open long enough, maybe we will try it again.
Our daughter's soccer team held their end-of-season party here. The ambiance was very nice --- chique. The bar drinks look very festive & trendy.
The service left a lot to be desired. Only one senior person seemed to know what he was doing. Everyone else was in a bit of a daze. For instance, we did not all get menus, even after we asked for them. One waiter took our drink order & we were later told we had to order again with someone else. Only three people at our table of ten were asked whether they wanted coffee/dessert. In all fairness, we were a large party which is difficult to manage, for even the most seasoned restaurateurs. I think wiith a little more experience, this place can work out the kinks & get the service to a good level.
The real issue for me is that I was disappointed with the food. I expect Mexican cuisine to offer big bold flavours but my fajita was a little bland. I would have added salt but there were no salt or pepper shakers on the tables. My son's steak was burnt. The guacamole was excellent.
I will try this place again in a few months. Hopefully by then, I can write a more positive follow-up review.
We went to the New Mexican restaurant in the west Island that everyone is talking about my boyfriend & our friends.
We read the reviews too about the restaurant before going , still with all the negative reviews we wanted to try it.
Ah my god. When we went it , I was attracted by the nice decor, all the vibrant colours .
Then we tried different appetizers , ceviche was good the tuna was amazing . Then we took the lamb chunk, the chicken with mole sauce. They were all even nicely presented & very delicious.
Came the time for dessert : oh my god we took four different ones & we shared. It was out of this world.
Then we asked the waiter about the chef, we were told the chef & the manager are real Mexican but not the owner.
Really it was a very nice gourmet experience & the musique lets you feel you are in Mexico on the beach with their tasty lime margarita .
I guess everyone should try it , & have their opinion about the restaurant & not Listen & read the opinion of others who has nothing else in their life & give stupid opinion about restaurants.
I love Mexican food & have been waiting for a decent restaurant to open in Montreal to crave my Mexican fix. I spent many years in Texas & developed an appreciation for good, real Mexican food. Thank you "Guaca & Molé" for being the first true fine Mexican resto in Montreal. If you are looking for plain Tex-Mex than I suggest you drive to the closest Taco Bell. But if you want fine Mexican cuisine that rivals any of Mexico's & Texas' finest then I suggest you give "Guaca & Molé" a try. This is my second trip since it opened a month ago & I will definitely be coming back!
What an amazing restaurant!!!
The food was really amazing, generous portion size, authentic with a twist!
Delicious flavours.
The service was great, friendly enthusiastic staff & very knowledgeable bar tender.
The decor is spectacular, all of the details well attended to down to each beautiful dish!!
Loved it overall, will go back for sure.
awesome to have a great Mexican place in the west island!
Meh, that pretty much sums it up. First off they need to get the kinks out of the service, everyone seemed lost. I understand they have only recently opened but they need to get it together. I'm assuming they will.
Worth another shot I guess in a few weeks. Not enough pork on the menu, this is supposed to be a Mexican resto, where's the pork?
I'll stick to the Mexican places in the Plateau but will check it out again when I'm in the West Island. My lamb burrito was just OK, it didn't taste like anything though not even like lamb.
Adding a postscript to my original review on 8/10.
People calm down, it's just a restaurant & people's livelihoods are at stake when you come out & rip someone a new one. So your drink took too long to come, suck it up. Why is everyone so malicious? These posts are horrible, from both sides. You have people who are pissed & then you have obvious shill reviews. Enjoy life, it's just a restaurant, no one died.
The margaritas & the food were so good. Big menu with a lot of options to chose. Travel to mexico many times & found it as one or the only ones in mtl to offer aurhebtic mexican food & drinks. Lovely decoration. Nice parking. I recommend it to all. Service need to improve since they are really inexperieced but that will be my only point to improve! :)
The fajitas are amazing, quality meat & chicken.
Great presentation for all the dishes, good job guys, we needed a Mexican restaurant in the west island. Amazing mojitos & marguerites
Best of west island Mexican restaurants at this point & we need so many more. Right now only one of authentic ones. Very laid back. No need to dress up. Very busy,. Reservations are important right now. Ceviche is really good albeit too much liquid when served. Needs to be strained prior to serving but quire authentic. Hubby liked the beef tacos a lot. Very beefy (?) & less filling. Queso fundido very good. Drinks were amazing. Caipirinha Drinks were sooooo good. Hubby liked the margueritas! Not watered down! Service was great
AWFUL SERVICE
Hi,
I will start off by saying i was so excited to try this new Mexican restaurant in the west island as i love Mexican food. Well... my expectation were destroyed! This experience was awful.
The service was extremely slow & I will say for anyone who is allergic to peanuts, as I am, do not go here! The house "mole" sauce is made with peanuts & is not mentioned anywhere on the menu! It comes on majority of the dishes offered. I ordered enchiladas which did contain this sauce & had an allergic reaction causing me to rush the emergency room. After i started reacting & found out the food I had ordered contained peanuts, the restaurant staff were at a loss. They did nothing to help me - no manager came to see me - NOTHING. it was disgusting on the part of this new restaurant.
I would not recommend this restaurant. Beside their lack of service & care to my personal allergic reaction, all the meals ordered at my table were very small & took forever to come. The only positive point i can say about this place is that there is easy parking!
Nice to have a new Mexican place in the West Island again. Location is great, parking is easy, restaurant bright & airy without the typical cheesy Mexican 'decor', seating is original & comfortable, the place has everything going for it to become an 'it' place but...
... Music is way too loud: can hardly hear each other sitting across the table from each other
... Service was interminably long: got our drinks & appetizers within 15 minutes when restaurant was empty, but as it was filling up, it took approx. 40 minutes for the waiter to come back to take our orders which were served somewhere between warm & hot, about 35 minutes later (we had been seated 90 minutes by then). We had to wait another 20 minutes or so after having finished our meals for the waiter to come check in on us. We were not offered coffee or dessert, nor we would have been willing to wait around for them. By the time the bill was paid & we walked out, we had been in the restaurant for 2:35 hours!
... Menu is a modern mix between traditional Mexican & modern (ex: ceviche sushi!) which is refreshing, but disappointing if you were hoping for some authentic fare. As for the dishes's execution, presentation was nice, but flavors & seasoning is off (2 orders of guacamole were too salty - should be more lime & just a pinch of salt - Piña Colada was sickeningly too rich & sweet, chicken tacos were a complete mess of blandness while the chipotle steak & vegetables was a delight.)
... Staff seems overwhelmed with waiters serving all areas of the dining room at ones (rather than sections), could not explain their dishes well (is the chicken molé, red or green molé? euh... let me check).** we were asked not to push the authentic Mexican plates on the table so as not to scratch the tables !
As mentioned above, this place has everything to make it a cool place to dine, but a few weeks into its existence, it seems to be unprepared to deliver the level of experience that will make people go back. I certainly hope they get a handle on things very quickly because I want to try out a few more items on the menu.... & I hope the next time will be better, otherwise there will not be a 3rd... sadly.
Really cute restaurant with great fun decor & a good balance between dinning room & bar. The drinks were amazing with lots of garnish. The food was okay. Missing a bit of that spicy, lime freshness you may expect from Mexican food. I'd try again once they tweak the menu. Music & atmosphere was cool
Amazing New Mexican restaurant in the west island.
We started with different cocktails from their bar, margaritas, mohito, an explosion of colors & fruity favors.
We were a large group, & I got the opportunity to try many items on the menue; the guacamole was fresh & served in a nice stone bowl, the beef quesadila was authentic, my snapper was a feast. My wife had the ceviche & I had a taste, yummy.
Beautiful dishes, generous portions, colorful setting. I had the chance to travel often to Mexico & this place is as Mexican as it gets.
I look forward to trying other dishes on their menu
