Review Summary

Gibeau Orange Julep is described as iconic and fun, with the giant orange building and the creamy, frothy orange julep that many say is the star of the experience. Reviewers praise the juice as refreshingly sweet and distinctive, though a few find it overly sugary or milky in texture, and some say the taste can vary by batch. The menu blends classic fast food such as hot dogs, poutine, and burgers with the famous orange drink, and portions and quality are uneven across visits, with some dishes praised and others criticized as overpriced for fast food. Parking is easy and the venue has a relaxed, nostalgic atmosphere, especially outdoors on sunny days, yet seating inside is limited and the space can feel crowded or touristy. Overall it remains a Montreal must for the orange juice and the iconic vibe, with strong opinions about value and consistency depending on what is ordered.

Great & fast service for food. Very affordable also. Love to go there whenever there's car showings.

The food is good (I got the hot dog & poutine combo) & the beverage is not exactly to my taste, but you can definitely feel the orange flavor! As a side note, it is not possible to dine-in! (But you can eat in your car since there's a big parking lot 🚗)

This orange giant ball is both an orange juice company & a popular local landmark for photo-taking. 👏

In addition to orange juice, they also offer fast food items like 🍔, 🌭?, 🍟, 🥪, & small desserts.

 Takeout only here 🥡.

 Orange Juice 🍊
Comes in 4 different sizes! The orange juice from a transparent container, & there's a layer of frothy bubbles on top ?.

After a taste test with four of us, only I really enjoyed it; the others gave it a low rating, saying it's too sweet & has a weird texture 😢!

So, I ended up drinking everyone's share!

There are times when the cost of a product exceeds its value. The menu at the orange julep has reached this point.

Yes, it has appeal as a landmark, & for many a nostalgic place to go for a dog & a julep... But I would really love to see how many people have stopped going or are ordering less because the prices have exceeded the value of what they are ordering.

Every business owner has the right to make a profit. The question is, is the operational cost so high that the clients have come to feel gouged?

A big orange ball! The actual drink was alright, but not incredible. The parking lot is arranged so that people can park their cars & look at the ball. I went on a Friday night at about 8 or so, & there were a number of cars revving their engines & zooming around which was a bit annoying. The back of the ball has washrooms which are available to use.

Took close to 30 minutes to get a single poutine & there really weren't many people... poutine was just ok. Fries not fried long enough & barely any sauce. Large poutine is smaller than most places.

Orange Julep is an Iconic restaurant in Montreal. The juice is really good & not overly sweet.

Their food is good for my liking & have a lot of selections to choose from.

A few things I noticed was that service can be slow since they are rushing to cater to customers since it can be very busy at a certain time.

Also, the price. It can be quite EXPENSIVE to eat there but they accept Credit & debit cards & Cash so make sure you are ready to pay the price.

The food though is fresh & better than Any fast food.

The staff & employees are working hard to cater to all & they are doing an amazing job.

The workers are good & doing the average.

Overall an amazing restaurant for fast food & a Highly recommendation for a decent lunch or Dinner.

Also they have car shows there as well sometimes & a nice area & location near the highway & Namur station.

But I hate the fact that they have wasps everywhere you eat especially outside & the summer. They should find a way to fix that because it’s sad.

Also some tables here are broken & not the best.

As of September, 2023 I will never eat here again in terms of seating. I just only get the juice & the food & eat somewhere else but never here around the orange. Too much Birds & Wasps.

Well, I'll try not to make it too long
Basically, I didn't like the drink, but I liked the poutine. Basically, this is the #1 poutine on my list.

Now, let's get to the explanation
The Orange Juice.
Well, if you're from US/Canada, it'll be tasty for you, but for me foreign, well, it was strange
Firstly, it HAS the taste of freshly squeezed orange juice, like just from the tree, which is great
But then, secondly, the sweetness. I don't know, it's just too sweet, like "double it & give it to the next person".
In my opinion, orange juice is a little bit sweet, but sour in the first place.
Maybe it's due to that European oranges are more sour? Well, I may be just different sort of oranges, that I don't like

Conclusion: "On taste & color - hard to find a mate"

poutine is just great, nothing is wrong with it

The combination of sweet orange juice & milk is unique but definitely not for everyone lol. Beside that, the hot dog & cheeseburger are juicy & worth a try!

This is definitely a classic Montreal staple. I will admit the quality of food/increase of price has changed over the years. I am also bummed by the fact that half of the parking lot is now a seating area, which used to be a hangout spot for vintage cars/motorcycles, etc.. The experience of visiting the giant orange is a must, but I do know there are better options for hotdogs & poutines in Montreal. To be noted, the staff was friendly!

An Orange Julep is definitely an experience, nothing quite like it in taste, though it’s not for everyone, you either love it or you hate it.. the food is good though, good steamy, good poutine

They promise fresh orange juice & they deliver.
If you’re lactose intolerant you might wanna confirm the additives before ordering the orange juice. Also they serve competitive poutine.

notre commande a l auto...
