I have no words to describe how amazing the food was, but I will try anyway....
I have never eaten better Indian food in my life, although I am a big fan of Indian Cuisine.
The flavours, the freshness, the mixtures, the extras on the house, made my lunch at Devi's an unique experience.
A big thank you to the talented chef and to the people working in this restaurants, who know what customer service really is.
Great Indian food in a beautiful place.
beautiful place and clean my dad used to do their plumbing and the kitchen is very clean!great food but in down town so hard to find parking especially on weekends
The food was okay but the service was so poor. Their worker are new and i think they just need money from our pockets. No management. We were four in group and guess what, their food was so expensive, every single person paid $39+tax and i paid $45+tax. I ordered Kadhayi chicken with 3 butter naan and one taj beer which was not good at all. Plus the service was so slow. I don't think I would like to come over here again better to go 3-amigos for easy going and chill food where you can have good quality food. I've been to Tandoori flame in Brampton one and I think the Indian which I had there was good enough. Indian-Beau was one of the good as well.
the restaurant is nice, the service was okay, the food was not so great.
I am getting pissed off when I am hungry and I want to have a nice juicy peace of breast chicken but instead I am getting too dry chicken that taste like plastic, but hey that is just me.
Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The decor, the atmosphere, the servers and most importantly, the food.
I went during the lunch hours but I asked for the a la carte menu because I like to see everything that is offered.
Anyways, I ordered the chicken tikka, the shredded okra, and their homemade samosas for starters accompanied with a mango yogurt drink. The chicken tikka for an appetizer was very pleasing. Tender and juicy and very flavourful - with the yogurt dip it was perfect! The samosas were also really good, though nothing too too special about them. The shredded okra dish was the server's recommendation (I think he was the manager or something from the way he acted - professional and polite). It was great. The okra isn't for everyone but vegetarians will sure like it. It has a mixture of tangy and spicy flavour with some onions and tomatoes mixed in.
For the main course I asked for the spiciest dish and he recommended the kudai (spelling?) chicken. I also ordered a super spicy chicken biryani. I was extremely pleased with the flavour in both dishes. Boy they were extremely spicy ... Like burning hot panting type spicy. Loved it!
I give this restaurant a 10/10.
I will be back to try their butter chicken and a spicy lamb dish.
Never liked Idian food, maybe because of the stereotype, however food is good, it the place you must visit at least once.
Good Decor and food is great. Problem is it is pricey and portions very small. I recommend checking elsewhere. But good if you want to kick it up a notch as a night out
The restaurant is nice and situated on crescent . We recommend the garlic bread . And we tried the chicken Masala which was spicy but not much and we also tried the chicken Chettinad . Nice enjoyable dishes but the only thing is it is expensive compared to what you are given . Each Chicken dish has about 7-8 medium chicken piece for about 20$ a plate with no rice or anything - those you would need to order on the side
Overall : a nice experience
Devi is good yet expensive!
I went for supper here because it looked like pretty place and i like indian food. I do have to admit the first thing that struck me is butter chicken for 19$ is too much! I will admit that it was good, but when u pay 19$ u expect to have alot of it thing is everyone got max 8 pieces of meat in theyre order. Other then that naan and rice is not included it's 4$ each.Everyone at my table payed at least 30$ each without alcohol, everyone said the taste was good but the quantity for the price was not worth it.Some of them left hungry :(. All in all good food if you dont mind paying.
I come to Devi at least once every couple weeks and it has never failed to satisfy. The garlic naan is amazing, fresh out of the oven and always very tasty. Every time I go I get the Chicken Chettinad (I ask them to make it spicy) and it's absolutely delicious. There are plenty of vegetarian options including a really good paneer mahkani. Its a little pricier but the food and portions are of good value.
The waitstaff is always very friendy and attentive. I've never had to wait long for anything.
Also the restaurant itself has a warm ambience and is very intimate. The lanterns are beautiful and add a great touch to the atmosphere.
Overall, Devi is an amazing restaurant, from the food to the servers, and is most likely my favorite restaurant in Montreal.
Devi's is a good upscale Indian restaurant. However, upscale comes at a price.
I find that they 'white' up their spicing - in other words, while the food is quite flavorful (the naan is especially wonderful) it lacks the kick that I really want in Indian food. Even the jalfrazi barely sizzles. Of course, I like spice. I am happy eating foods that make my nose run and eyes tear. I actually have a hot sauce collection . . . so take my criticism as you will.
That being said, the service is always good and they have a well priced lunch special (by downtown standards, not by hole-in-the-wall Indian food standards). They also have a tendency to throw in extra stuff with your lunch, like chicken pakoras . . . unfortunately, I'm a vegetarian so I don't particularly like the additional chicken on my plate, but I do appreciate the sentiment and the focus on customer service.
In my opinion, Devi is a great place to go if you want Indian food without the burn or if someone you know is looking for that. It's good and I am happy to go with coworkers for lunch, but I wouldn't go to get my spicy Indian fix.
As a beginner to Indian food, I'm no expert on what is good Indian food and what isn't, but the others in my party seemed extremely satisfied to the same extent as I was when we dined at this little restaurant in the early Fall. We sat by the window so we could people watch and the server was friendly and offered us suggestions, especially for my vegan roommate who was in attendance.
I ordered the Saag Paneer, which is a new-found favourite of mine, as I'm not as tolerant of the spice levels in Indian food as most people are. It was absolutely fantastic and deliciously rich and creamy and I had no problems finishing it. The others in my party ordered the Paneer Makhani, Chana Masala, and Daal Makhani, and all were quite delicious, however the Saag Paneer stood out as the table-favourite.
The atmosphere is cute and likely even better in the summer when you can enjoy patio seating.
Taking out my notes on this restaurant, I would have to say, this was great dining experience. One of the best Indian food I have eaten in Montreal. The setting was very cozy and the service was impeccable.
