Maison du Cari des Caraïbes is widely regarded for its roti and affordable Caribbean comfort fare. Roti varieties such as goat and chicken are frequently praised, with oxtail and jerk chicken also earning positive notes for flavor and portion size. Prices and lunch specials are described as great value, drawing a steady stream of customers. Several reviewers mention friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere, while others report uneven experiences, including a rude manager, lukewarm food, or long wait times. Changes in ownership are blamed by some for a decline in flavor and the roti being less stuffed and spicier than before. Some guests note missing items like plantains or salads that are listed on the menu, and a few visits saw hours or opening times not aligning with expectations. Overall the spot feels like a must visit for Caribbean cuisine in Montreal for many, with memories of the flavor profile keeping fans returning even after ups and downs.
Ive been eating here for so long, not even once was i disapointed .I eat here every week more then once.🤣 Ive ate there twice one day. Il go out of my way to some authentic home cooking… im addicted.. Great job guys( & yal Girls to)✌?🫶..
Wow, best Roti in Montreal, hands down. Small & discreet, no frills, but boy oh boy, the food (& service) is outstanding. Worth the trip if you like/love Rotis!
Maybe we came in to eat in odd hours between lunch & dinner but the jerk chicken although was tasty was not hot. It was also my first caraibes experience, so maybe the food temperature was normal?
Heu wooooow! Le goût des Caraïbes à Montréal!
Frais, goûteux, savoureux. J'y reviendrai avec plaisir! Allez rencontrer Mindy (the boss lady) & David. Cheers !
My friends whom I haven't seen in years & I were here for lunch. Opening time is 11am but they didn't open till 12:10
We waited in the patio
Manager said there was a issue with electricity. Explanation accepted. No apologies though.
Manager was very rude & condescending. I asked him what is this menu in the picture in the menu Board & he replied ,' a picture'
Standing infront of him to order,he didn't say anything.
I ordered & he replied,'I'm not ready'
So say something.
Food was served lukewarm & no plantain. No explanation why there's no plantain. So we asked. No explanation except,NO PLANTAIN today 🤔
This restaurant has been around for years, A rude Manager is really a turn off.
We're not going back to this place.
Disappointed but honestly could have just been a one time thing, went there about 3 weeks back, the person behind the counter was very responsive, caring & welcoming which I appreciated, had high hopes but Curried goat was pretty mid (dry no spicing) salad rice protein was all mixed together by the time I got home, but maybe it's better on a different day
It was so fresh & yummy. I came with my 1 year old & even he loved the food. We had curry goat & jerk chicken plates. The meat is good, the rice is good, the salad is good, everything was 10/10. The staff members were so polite & welcoming ! We also had a patty & I found that to be fresh as well (came on a Wednesday afternoon). Will definitely return!
