We used to love this place. The food & drink are usually good. Unfortunately, ever since the restaurant is run at lunchtime by a new staff, the service we get is bad. We are consitantly ignored, are made to wait up to 20 min before being able to order & even longer to be served, often after the people who come after us. The staff in question seems to discriminate against us, as we don't fit his idea of Westmounter (a mix of racism, cast-based disdain & male chauvinism). Too bad, we'll spend our money elsewhere.
Restaurant grec assez dispendieux. Certains plats peuvent en valoir la peine alors que d'autres ne sont vraiment pas assez spéciaux pour être mémorables. En entrée, la pieuvre grillée en morceaux assez larges, bon assaisonnement, mais pas donné (42$). La soupe grec aux poissons (16$), quelques morceaux dans une texture potage dilué, je déconseille, beaucoup trop cher. L'agneau est excellent (52$). Les accompagnements sont des légumes pochés (brocoli, tranches de carotte, un légume en feuille) & patates grecs qui s'avèrent être de gros morceaux texture bouilli avec un goût un peu acidulé & fines herbes (ou choix de frites). Le doré ($39, prix variable selon le poids) vient avec les mêmes accompagnements. Avec deux quartiers de citron, câpres & huiles d'olive, faut vraiment aimer la cuisine aux goûts simples... Ce n'est peut être pas mon genre préféré. Nous avons eu des fruits, c'est chouette, mais ils n'étaient pas très bons, surtout le melon miel qui ne goûtait presque rien & pas moindrement sucré (hors saison, on va dire), heureusement ce n'était pas un plat facturé. En bref, ce n'est pas mon genre préféré, mais la moitié était correct & l'autre moitié très bon.
Très bon resto grec, bons légumes grillés, bons pons poissons, bons vins.
If you're looking for authentic Greek flavors, incredible hospitality, & a warm, inviting atmosphere, this is the place to be. The stuffed calamari is hands down the best I've ever had-perfectly cooked, flavorful, & absolutely addictive. & the lamb chops…juicy, tender, & grilled to perfection.
Pretty place, nice atmosphere. Waitress was excellent & provided great wine recommendations. Food was pretty mediocre though. The fried calamari was very basic for that price. Served with the typical marinara sauce. Not super crispy or seasoned. The sea bass was alright but overpriced for what it was. Side vegetables (carrots, broccoli, & two others) were just boiled, no seasoning. Boiled potatoes were well seasoned at least. Complimentary walnut cake was dry, didn't really seem fresh at all.
Le serveur en chef Ambrose est un des meilleurs serveurs que j'ai rencontré. Les plates sont très généreux & tellement santé ! Le propriétaire Bobby est attentionné & très présent dans le restaurant. Mon nouveau resto avec ma copine 👏🏽
Our group enjoyed our dinner & experience at Balos. The fried, stuffed calamari were great, along with their roasted potatoes. The grilled shrimp were large but slightly overdone & so a bit tough. Service was very attentive, although not personal (maybe some people appreciate a more distant service approach). Good atmosphere & tablets settings.
Everything was good & amazing service ! I highly recommend the fried calamari & the vegetable chips with tzatziki... my fav
Lunch. I had the grilled salmon, generous portion, nicely cooked, tasty. Comfortable chairs, nice to have tablecloths & real napkins making the place more elegant. Menu for evening looks great but I am unable to come to terms with the prices these days, most mains in the $30 to 40 plus range it is expensive to eat out these days especially with the 15% tax & expected tip. Just saying. It's a nice place, would certainly go back...after my next pension cheque comes in !
