I was a little worried when we first arrived because we were hungry & very thirsty & the restaurant was very busy. But the food & the service were both great. Really outstanding. We were a group of six, so we sampled all kinds of food (appetizers, main courses, etc.) & drinks & it was all excellent. Strongly recommended. Definitely the best food in the area.
(We had another excellent meal at the bar recently!)
Great place to grab dinner in westmount.

Grilled mushrooms could have been more generous, but flavourful!

Not impressed with the service received at the restaurant. We came in for dinner, the front of house/ lady who walked us to our table was lovely very talkative & welcoming. We sat down & chose our drinks & ordered, & a different waiter was taking our service. He ignored my mother twice when she asked for a drink, & was generally quite passive aggressive towards her. Her drink did not arrive the entire time at the restaurant after asking twice. She also ordered an orange juice for my 7 year old brother. When our drinks arrived, my brother was given a vodka orange. Thankfully the waiter stopped & said is that for him just before he drunk it, but my brother is disabled so could have easily drunk it without realising. Our food arrived & was fine, & we needed takeaway boxes to take the rest of our food home. We explained we wanted takeaway boxes & he told us he would pack it for us. Therefore, my mother explained how we wanted it packed as we were going on a flight the next day so it had to be separately packed so the food didn't mix ( one food was to be eaten dry so would be ruined with moisture). He snapped at her & said yes i will pack it. When the takeaway boxes arrived the food was all mixed together as we didn't ask. We paid the bill, & kindly still left a $20 tip which was reasonable for the service we received. My dad went to the toilet, & was stopped by the waiter & asked why we only left this tip!!l He was lucky we even tipped at all.
Had a lovely time at BALOS. The stuffed calamari was just okay, but the spanakopita was the best I've had in Canada (I spend a fair amount of time in Greece). Would love to go back & try the lamb next time. Wine options were great, & the selection of European wines was impressive.

I've only heard good things about Balos. Other reviewers were not wrong. The decor is beautiful & the greeting from the hostess was friendly with a big smile.
We were given a choice of window tables that had been reserved for us.
With a large variety of cuisine, it took some time to decide on what to order.
We started with 2 different salads that we shared between 4 adults; Horatio (classic Greek salad) & the Mixed Salad with Avocado. Both were delicious.
I ordered the Fried Calamari which was accompanied by steamed veggies & roasted Greek potatoes. The calamari was crispy on the outside & tender on the inside. The veggies were cooked to perfection & the potatoes were outstanding. My husband had the Grilled Chicken Fillets with also had the veggies & potatoes. The chicken breasts were well cooked yet remaining juicy on the inside. The other couple shared a whole Chilean Seabass with the same veggies & potatoes. They loved it. I found that the fish was very thin but looked very nice.
Wow! The portion sizes are really big, except for the fish, & everything was delicious. Really delicious.
Sorry, but there was no room for dessert.
Will I go back? Absolutely!

Everything was fantastic start to finish! We had the mussels & the gigantes. Both were perfectly delicious. The staff were friendly & made great wine recommendations.
Amazing Greek food. From the salad to the lamb everything was incredibly flavourful & absolutely delicious. On the pricier side but worth it & they give really large portions.
We ordered the stuffed calamari, the crab cakes, & the lamb. The calamari was good but the crab cakes & lamb were amazing.
